Mika Abdalla and Jake Short have officially ended their relationship after several years together. The pair, who were previously engaged, have now split but are said to remain on good terms.

News of the breakup surfaced shortly after Abdalla’s recent rise in visibility following the release of her Prime Video series Off Campus. The timing led to online speculation about whether her growing career played a role in the separation. However, sources close to the situation have pushed back on that idea.

A source told DeuxMoi that the couple had already broken up shortly before Off Campus premiered in early May. The insider explained, “They were a really great couple it just didn’t work out and they remain on good terms.” The statement suggested the split was not tied to career changes or public attention, but rather a private decision between the two.

A representative for Mika Abdalla also addressed the situation in a statement provided to People. The rep confirmed the breakup and asked for privacy moving forward. They said, “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together.” The statement also emphasized that the former couple still support each other, adding, “They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.”

Abdalla, 26, and Short, 29, first met while working on the 2022 Hulu film Sex Appeal. In the movie, they played romantic leads, and their on-screen chemistry eventually developed into a real-life relationship. Over time, their connection became public, and fans began following their relationship closely.

Their engagement was later confirmed in May 2025 by Jake Short’s manager, Brian Medavoy, who shared photos from an engagement celebration. At the time, he wrote, “An awesome day yesterday celebrating the next chapter for my longtime client, Jake Short and his fiance Mika Abdalla. From set to real life – watching your journey has been a joy. Here’s to forever.”

Despite the engagement announcement, the couple kept much of their personal life private. They occasionally appeared in public together and interacted on social media, but rarely spoke in detail about their relationship in interviews.

In early 2026, attention returned to the couple when Short shared a year-in-review post that included photos of Abdalla. She commented on the post with a series of emotional and playful remarks, including “every photo tells a story,” and “don’t even know what to say.” Another comment jokingly read, “beer banner gets the blood boiling.”

The pair were also seen together at an Actor Awards event in February 2026, which at the time appeared to show them still on stable terms.

Public interest in their relationship grew again due to Abdalla’s rising profile through Off Campus, where she plays Allie Hayes, a role that is expected to continue into the show’s second season. The success of the series led to additional attention on her personal life, though sources have now clarified that the breakup had already taken place before that surge in fame.

While fans continue to react online, both Abdalla and Short are reportedly focused on their individual careers and maintaining a respectful distance following the end of their engagement.
