Netflix Might Have Just Found Its Next Surprise Hit Romantic Comedy

Netflix is seeing another major streaming success with its new romantic comedy Office Romance, which has quickly climbed to the top of global viewing charts.

The film only recently debuted worldwide, but it has already become the most-watched title on Netflix globally. In its first three days alone, Office Romance pulled in 20.9 million views, a strong start that pushed it ahead of competing releases on the platform.

The movie stars Jennifer Lopez as Jackie, the strict boss of an aviation company called Air Cruz. Her character strongly enforces a rule against workplace relationships. That rule becomes complicated when a new lawyer, Daniel, played by Brett Goldstein, joins the company and disrupts her professional boundaries.

The film is directed by Ol Parker, with a screenplay written by Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly. Even though early audience and critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes sit at around 50 percent, the movie has still managed to break out as a major streaming hit. That split between reviews and viewership is part of what makes its performance stand out in Netflix’s 2026 lineup.

Before Office Romance took over the platform’s global rankings, Netflix had already seen a strong year at the box office level for streaming releases. Instead of a large-scale action or sci-fi film, it is a light romantic comedy that has managed to attract global attention very quickly. The early performance also shows how quickly Netflix’s global top ten can shift. Office Romance managed to surpass Swapped, an animated family film starring Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple. That title had also entered the platform’s most-watched list, alongside other popular films currently circulating in Netflix’s global rankings.

Industry watchers are now paying attention to whether Office Romance can maintain its momentum beyond its opening week. While early numbers are strong, long-term success on streaming platforms often depends on repeat viewing and word of mouth.
