The score is based on the first wave of reviews and continues an impressive streak for the Adult Swim series. Julian Lytle of RIOTUS also praised the latest episodes and called it his favorite season yet. He wrote, “My Adventures with Superman, season 3, is my favorite season of the show. I know a lot about the DC universe in its many interpretations, and seeing this show and feeling surprised by how they work with these characters in such a new way is refreshing.”

Season 3 takes inspiration from one of the most famous Superman stories ever published: The Death of Superman and its follow-up storyline, Reign of the Supermen. However, the show is not attempting a direct adaptation. Instead, it uses familiar characters and concepts while reshaping them to fit the world that the series has already established.
