‘Dune’ Star Anya Taylor-Joy Joins New Lord of the Rings Movie in Major Casting Move

Anya Taylor-Joy has officially been cast in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, adding more star power to the upcoming fantasy film directed by Andy Serkis. The news comes as the project moves further into pre-production, with filming expected to begin soon in New Zealand, according to early production updates.

Taylor-Joy will play a new character named Seren. No further details about the role have been confirmed yet, and it is not clear whether Seren is an original creation for the film or drawn from Tolkien’s wider lore. The announcement has sparked curiosity among fans, especially since the Lord of the Rings universe is known for expanding on both familiar and newly introduced characters.

Andy Serkis will direct the film and also return as Gollum through motion capture performance. The story is expected to take place during the timeline of The Fellowship of the Ring, focusing on events that happen before Frodo leaves the Shire on his journey. In the film, Gandalf sends Aragorn on a mission to track down Gollum, setting the stage for the events that connect to the original trilogy.

The cast is shaping up to include a mix of returning and new actors. Elijah Wood is expected to return as Frodo, while Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Gandalf.
