Netflix Quietly Cancels One of Its Most-Watched Shows, Fans Are Furious: “This Is Insane”
Netflix has confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer will end after its upcoming fifth season, and the decision has left many fans disappointed. The announcement came as a surprise to viewers because the legal drama has continued to grow in popularity and attract a large audience around the world.
Netflix revealed that the fifth season, which is currently in production, will be the final chapter of the series. Filming officially began in March, giving fans one more chance to see Mickey Haller’s story continue before the show comes to an end.
Based on the novels by Michael Connelly, The Lincoln Lawyer first premiered in 2022 and quickly became a successful addition to Netflix’s lineup. The series follows Mickey Haller, an idealistic Los Angeles lawyer played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who runs his legal practice from the back seat of his Lincoln car while taking on different cases across the city.
The show became popular because of its mix of courtroom drama, mystery, and the personal struggles of its characters. Over four seasons, the series continued to build a loyal audience and remained a strong performer on Netflix’s charts.
According to Deadline, The Lincoln Lawyer spent 29 weeks on Netflix’s global Top 10 list and collected around 171 million views since 2023. The fourth season also showed strong numbers, earning nine million views during its first weekend on the platform. That was an increase compared to the previous season, which recorded seven million views during the same period.
Despite those numbers, Netflix decided not to continue the series beyond season five. The choice has caused frustration among viewers who believe the show still had more stories to tell.
The creators of the series, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, shared their thoughts about the ending in a statement. They explained that while ending the show is emotional, they are happy they can finish the story in a way that feels right.
“Everything good eventually comes to an end, but luckily, sometimes we get to decide what that ending looks like,” they said.
The creators added that their goal from the beginning was not only to tell Mickey Haller’s story but also to give the character and the series a proper conclusion. “From the very beginning, our goal was not just to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his colleagues, but also to give it a real ending,” they explained.
They also thanked Netflix, A+E Studios, and the fans who supported the show. The creators said they believe Mickey Haller will receive the ending he deserves and that they are excited to share the final season with viewers.

However, many fans are not happy with the decision. Social media reactions showed that a large number of viewers wanted the series to continue for more seasons.
One fan wrote on X, “This is insane. The show has great ratings, an excellent book series behind it, and a lead actor with incredible charisma.”
Another viewer said, “Ending The Lincoln Lawyer after five seasons, even though Mickey Haller has enough charisma to carry the show for years, makes absolutely no sense.”
Other fans also asked Netflix to reconsider, saying the cast and story still had plenty of potential. One viewer wrote, “I really hope Netflix changes its decision. The cast and story are amazing. Mickey Haller deserves more.”
While season five will mark the end of The Lincoln Lawyer, the final episodes are expected to give fans a complete conclusion to Mickey Haller’s journey. For many viewers, the hope is that the last season will provide the satisfying ending the character has earned.
