For decades, the ‘Hellraiser’ franchise has carved its legacy through flesh, chains, and philosophical dread, making its mark across eleven films, comics, and literature. Despite that sprawling reach, the iconic horror series never truly had a dedicated video game to call its own, a gap that has long puzzled fans who believe Pinhead and his Cenobites belong in an interactive medium.

That changes in a matter of months. Developer Saber Interactive has been building what looks to be one of the most ambitious horror game releases of the year, with a project that carries the full creative weight of the franchise’s origins behind it. The story for ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ was written in direct collaboration with Clive Barker himself, giving the game a legitimacy that no other adaptation in the franchise’s history has fully claimed.

Bloody Disgusting broke the news that ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ is launching October 8 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, a release window that places it squarely within the peak of horror season. The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, with Emil Esov serving as game director, and art director Petra Nikolić and narrative director Anthony De Fault rounding out key creative positions on the project.

Players will step into the first-person perspective of biker gang member Aidan Lynch, who accidentally triggers a nightmare when he and his girlfriend Sunny encounter the Genesis Configuration, a supernatural puzzle box that summons the Cenobites. Classic franchise creatures including Butterball, Chatterer, and Deepthroat are confirmed to appear alongside new enemies, and the game’s setting alternates between reality and the Cenobites’ labyrinthine dimension.

Perhaps the most celebrated element of the project is the return of Doug Bradley, who reprises his iconic role as the voice of Pinhead, marking his return to the character after voicing him across the first eight films in the series.

Saber Interactive first teased the game on July 17, 2025, officially announced it on July 22, and by August 2025 a 45-minute demo had already generated significant buzz when it was featured at Gamescom.

The game blends combat, stealth, and puzzle-solving into its survival horror framework, with players crafting items and switching between melee weapons and firearms depending on the enemy type, with all melee weapons breaking after a certain number of uses. For collectors, Boss Team Games has prepared three different collector’s editions, which include a recreation of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box, a statue, an art book, a SteelBook case, and an art print signed by Barker himself.

With October 8 locked in and Doug Bradley’s Pinhead ready to make sinners suffer once more, the only real question left for survival horror fans is whether they have the nerve to open the box when it arrives, so are you brave enough to step into Aidan’s nightmare, or will you be leaving this one on the shelf?
