‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Star Anne Hathaway Confirms She’s Expecting in Surprise Instagram Video Announcement
Anne Hathaway has announced that she is expecting a baby, sharing the news in a simple and emotional Instagram post that quickly caught attention online. According to her post on Instagram, the Oscar-winning actress revealed her pregnancy with a short video that showed her walking into frame, gently highlighting her baby bump, and then stepping away with an excited smile.
She captioned the post with the words: “Baby, I’m yours.” The message was brief, but it clearly confirmed the news and was widely shared by fans soon after it went live.
Hathaway, best known for films such as The Devil Wears Prada, has been married to businessman Adam Shulman since 2012. The couple already have two children together, sons Jonathan and Jack, who were born in 2016 and 2019. This new pregnancy marks the next chapter for their family.
The announcement comes after Hathaway has been open in past interviews about earlier personal challenges related to pregnancy. In a 2024 interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that she experienced a miscarriage in 2015, before the birth of her first child. She explained that she was going through that experience while also performing in the off-Broadway play Grounded, where her character had to portray childbirth on stage.
She said at the time: “The first time [being pregnant] didn’t work out for me.” She also spoke about how emotionally difficult it was to balance real life with her role on stage, adding that it became hard to separate performance from reality. She shared that she had to be honest with close friends during that period because of how intense the experience was while working in theater.
Outside of her personal life, 2026 has been a busy year for Hathaway professionally. She has already appeared in the musical psychological thriller Mother Mary and returned in the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, a project that brought renewed attention to her early career breakthrough role.
She also has several major films lined up. These include Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey, where she is set to play Penelope opposite Matt Damon’s Odysseus. Another project is the sci-fi film The End of Oak Street, which also stars Ewan McGregor. In addition, she will appear in the adaptation of Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s novel, and has a supporting role in Alone at Dawn, which is expected to be released in 2027.
News of her pregnancy adds a personal milestone to an already active year in her career. The announcement, shared directly with fans through social media, quickly became one of the most discussed entertainment updates of the day, with many celebrating the news and sending messages of support.
