Meghan Markle’s Surprise Emmy Nomination Sparks Huge Debate – Fans Can’t Believe It
Meghan Markle’s lifestyle series ‘With Love, Meghan’ has received a major surprise months after its future came to an end. The Netflix show has earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lifestyle Series, giving the Duchess of Sussex and her team a reason to celebrate despite the project no longer moving forward.
Markle shared the news on Instagram, congratulating the people who worked behind the scenes on the series. “A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on @netflix,” she wrote. She also added, “We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”
According to the announcement, ‘With Love, Meghan’ will compete against shows including ‘A Different Breed’, ‘George to the Rescue’, ‘The Motherhood’, and ‘The Wizard of Paws’ at the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will air live on October 30.
The series first arrived on Netflix in March 2025 and focused on Markle sharing personal lifestyle advice, cooking ideas, gardening tips, and hosting inspiration from her home in Montecito, California. Netflix described the show as a fresh take on lifestyle programming, combining practical advice with conversations featuring friends and guests.
The nomination comes after a complicated journey for the series. While some viewers enjoyed the relaxed approach and personal style of the show, it also received heavy criticism from others who felt it came across as disconnected from everyday life. The mixed reaction led to plenty of online debate surrounding Markle’s return to television.
Earlier this year, reports from Page Six claimed that Netflix would not move forward with a third season of ‘With Love, Meghan’ after the second season failed to reach the platform’s Top 10 rankings. Sources told the outlet that Markle would instead focus more attention on her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The Netflix partnership also reportedly changed direction afterward. Page Six later reported that Netflix had ended its involvement with As Ever, although a Netflix spokesperson pushed back against the idea that the relationship was simply over.
“Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand, and we are glad to have played a role in bringing that vision to life,” the spokesperson said.
Several users on X criticized Meghan Markle’s ‘With Love, Meghan’ Emmy nomination, questioning the strength of the competition in the category.
“‘With Love, Meghan’ was the antithesis of entertainment. It was an abysmal, boring slog at best and getting through one episode was painful.”
One commenter claimed the nomination only seemed impressive because there were very few shows competing and called the series boring and difficult to watch. Another user agreed, saying the competition made the recognition feel less significant and jokingly supported ‘The Wizard of Paws’ instead.
“I had the same thought. The nomination sounds more impressive until you look at what it’s actually competing against. My vote is for Wizard of Paws just because the name is cool!”
Other critics described the nomination as “absurd” and said they found the show disappointing. Some admitted that a few ideas from the series were enjoyable, but felt the overall quality, especially the second season, was poor.
An As Ever representative also said the company appreciated Netflix’s support during its launch period and believed the brand was ready to continue independently. “We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own,” the representative said.
The Emmy nomination adds another chapter to Markle’s post-royal career, which began after she and Prince Harry stepped away from their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020. The couple later signed a reported multi-year Netflix deal as they built projects outside the royal institution.
Do you think ‘With Love, Meghan’ deserved its Emmy nomination?
For Markle, the recognition represents a positive moment for a show that has faced both praise and criticism since its debut. Whether ‘With Love, Meghan’ can turn the nomination into a win will be decided when the Daytime Emmy Awards take place later this year.
