Sophie Thatcher is finally responding to the rumors connecting her to Marvel Studios’ upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot. While the actress has not confirmed any involvement with the project, she made it clear that she would be interested in joining a major franchise if the right opportunity came along.

The speculation around Thatcher’s possible involvement has grown as Marvel continues developing its new ‘X-Men’ movie. With fans already guessing which actors could join the mutant universe, Thatcher became one of the names frequently mentioned online.

During an interview with The Playlist while promoting Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming film ‘Her Private Hell’, Thatcher was asked about the casting rumors. The actress admitted she was not even aware of the speculation before the question came up.

“I haven’t heard that,” Thatcher said. “I’m open. I’m open to anything. I don’t really know that universe.”

Although she is best known for smaller, more unique projects, Thatcher explained that she would not reject a big studio film simply because of its size. For her, the most important part of any project is the story and the people behind it.

“If I connect with the script and if it’s something — because it’s on such a large scale — if it’s a story that can help us and, like, help an audience, inform an audience, if there’s empathy there, then I’m open,” she explained.

The actress added that choosing roles is not about avoiding commercial projects or only focusing on independent films. Instead, she wants to find projects that feel meaningful and allow her to work with creative people she respects. “It’s just about, you know, the collaborator and the script,” Thatcher said.

Thatcher has built a reputation for taking on unusual and challenging roles. Her recent work includes the horror hit ‘Heretic’, where she starred alongside Hugh Grant, as well as projects like ‘Yellowjackets’ and ‘The Boogeyman’. Her performances have often focused on complex characters, which has made her a popular choice among fans hoping to see her join a major franchise.

The actress also explained that she does not want to put strict limits on the type of movies she makes. “I’m not ridding myself of ‘Well, I can’t do commercial. I can’t do this. I can’t do that.’ I’m incredibly open,” Thatcher said.

Would Sophie Thatcher be a good fit for Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ reboot?

Marvel’s new ‘X-Men’ film is being directed by Jake Schreier, who recently worked on Netflix’s award-winning series ‘Beef’. The project is expected to introduce a new version of the famous mutant team after Marvel Studios regained control of the characters following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

While no official cast announcements have been made, rumors have linked several actors to possible roles in the reboot. However, Thatcher’s comments suggest that, for now, nothing has been confirmed.

The actress also made it clear that any potential franchise role would depend on whether the material connects with her creatively.

For Marvel fans hoping to see Thatcher become part of the mutant world, her response is encouraging, even if it is not a confirmation. With the ‘X-Men’ reboot still taking shape, casting news is expected to remain one of the biggest topics of discussion leading up to the film’s eventual production.
