‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Inches Toward $900 Million as Its Historic Run Refuses to Slow Down

Blockbuster fatigue is supposed to set in eventually, but nobody told ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’ Tom Holland’s latest turn as the friendly neighborhood hero has spent every single weekend since its late July debut rewriting box office record books, and this frame is no exception.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also starring Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, opened to a record-shattering $360 million domestic debut that outpaced even ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ before going on to become the fastest movie ever to reach both $700 million and $800 million domestically. Its momentum has barely wavered since, holding onto premium IMAX screens well into its second month in theaters.

That consistency has now pushed the film to another key benchmark. According to updated estimates, ‘Brand New Day’ grossed an additional $22.2 million domestically this weekend from 3,678 locations, bringing its estimated total domestic gross to $891.51 million, putting the film on the verge of the $900 million milestone within striking distance of its next weekend.

That pace keeps the film locked in a genuine chase for the all-time domestic box office crown. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ remains the only film in history to cross $900 million domestically, a mark it reached over 50 days back in 2015, and ‘Brand New Day’ has consistently stayed weeks ahead of that same pace since its opening.

The film’s overall trajectory has been staggering by any measure. It became the fastest movie in history to reach $700 million domestically in just 13 days, followed by becoming the fastest to hit $800 million in 19 days, a run that pushed it past both ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on the all-time domestic chart.

Globally, ‘Brand New Day’ has already crossed the $2 billion mark, making it the eighth film in history to reach that milestone and Sony’s highest-grossing release ever, surpassing ‘No Way Home’s’ previous $1.9 billion global haul. With a $225 million production budget, the film’s commercial dominance has become one of the defining stories of the 2026 box office year.

Much of that staying power has come from unusually strong holds week over week, a pattern uncommon for films this deep into their theatrical run. Alongside Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ which has been running neck and neck with ‘Brand New Day’ for premium format screens all summer, the two films have helped push the domestic box office toward one of its strongest years since before the pandemic.

With a Labor Day weekend bump still ahead and the $900 million mark now firmly within reach, ‘Brand New Day’ looks poised to make history yet again in the coming days.
