‘The Batman: Part II’ Set Photos Reveal a Wrecked Batmobile

Matt Reeves has kept ‘The Batman: Part II‘ shrouded in secrecy since production finally kicked off this year, doling out only carefully controlled teasers like a snow-covered Batmobile camera test back in May. That tight control over the sequel’s story has made every leaked set photo since then feel like a genuine event for fans desperate for clues.

The long-gestating follow-up to 2022’s ‘The Batman’ reunites Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne alongside Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred, with Barry Keoghan also expected to return as the Joker. Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin, describing it as a project he’s genuinely proud of during comments made at last year’s Emmys.

Now, new footage circulating from the film’s Glasgow set has given fans their most dramatic look yet at just how brutal this sequel’s action might get. Video and photos posted online show what appears to be the wreckage of Batman’s iconic vehicle, badly damaged and surrounded by debris under the city’s Kingston Bridge. One fan who visited the location noted there was significantly more debris scattered around than during an earlier visit just days prior, suggesting the wreckage has been building over multiple nights of filming.

The footage also appears to tie the destruction directly to conflict with Gotham’s own police force. Additional clips from the set reportedly show Batman in combat with GCPD officers as they open fire on the vehicle, with multiple cruisers and uniformed officers visible throughout the production’s recent nighttime shoots.

DC Studios hasn’t released any official plot details explaining what leads to the Batmobile’s destruction, and the exact cause remains tightly guarded. What is known is that the sequel is set during a winter-stricken Gotham City, still reeling from the fallout of the Riddler’s catastrophic flooding attack from the first film, giving the wrecked vehicle an especially bleak visual backdrop against the snow.

The leaked images arrive alongside other set mysteries that have kept fans guessing throughout filming, including Scarlett Johansson’s still-unconfirmed role, which some reports have tied to Gilda Dent, the wife of Gotham District Attorney Harvey Dent, played by Sebastian Stan. Recent set photos even showed a woman inside the Batmobile, fueling speculation that she could be connected to Johansson’s mystery character in some way.

Reeves has previously teased other pieces of the production, including an early first-look shot of what appeared to be a body on a morgue slab as filming began, along with a closer look at Pattinson’s stunt double wearing a refined version of the Batsuit. Story-wise, Reeves has described the suit as something Bruce built himself and continues refining early in his crimefighting career, meaning fans shouldn’t expect drastic overhauls to the character’s gear this early into his journey.

With ‘The Batman: Part II’ currently slated to open in theaters on October 1, 2027, fans still have a long road of speculation ahead before Reeves’ vision for a devastated, snowbound Gotham finally reaches screens.
