‘VisionQuest’ Premiere Gets an Early Launchpad
Marvel’s Disney+ slate has quietly built one of its most anticipated releases of the year through ‘VisionQuest,’ the long-awaited follow-up to ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along.’ After years of Vision fans piecing together clues from trailers and comic-con panels, the series is finally close enough to release that Marvel is ready to let audiences see it before its official streaming debut.
That early access is arriving in a notably prestigious way. Episodes 1 and 2 of ‘VisionQuest’ will premiere at London Film Festival next month, giving festival attendees the chance to watch the opening chapters of Paul Bettany’s return as Vision well ahead of the general public.
According to Deadline, the series will screen starting October 7, positioning the festival premiere just one week before ‘VisionQuest’ officially launches on Disney+ on October 14. It’s a rollout that mirrors how Marvel handled ‘Agatha All Along’ the previous year, using a high-profile festival slot to generate early buzz before the wider streaming release.
Created and showrun by Terry Matalas of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ fame, ‘VisionQuest’ follows Bettany’s “White Vision” as he navigates life in hiding following his resurrection and the restoration of his memories at the end of ‘WandaVision.’ Despite regaining that data, Vision reportedly lacks any real emotional connection to those memories, leaving him searching for identity by turning inward and consulting the various AI personas embedded in his own programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron.
That fragile peace gets interrupted once a bounty placed on Vision’s head forces him on the run alongside Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious teenager who may be a reincarnated version of Vision’s own son. Matalas has described the series as an exploration of intergenerational trauma between fathers and sons, largely set within a reality-warping mansion that exists inside Vision’s mind.
James Spader is also returning as Ultron, marking his first appearance as the character since 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ this time portraying him both as a robotic presence and in unsettling human form. According to reporting, Matalas has framed the dynamic between Vision and his creator as the central pillar driving the entire season.
‘VisionQuest’ serves as the third and final chapter in what’s often referred to as the WandaVision Trilogy, following the original series and ‘Agatha All Along.’ The show rounds out its cast with Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and James D’Arcy, giving the finale a substantial ensemble to match its emotional stakes.
With filming having wrapped in London back in mid-2025 and Marvel now confirming this London Film Festival premiere, ‘VisionQuest’ appears to be entering its final promotional stretch with real momentum behind it. Fans hoping to catch the series ahead of its Disney+ debut will need festival access, while everyone else has just over a month left to wait.
