Joe Washington’s Cape Town nightmare is about to hit its midseason turning point, and fans are counting down the days until the next chapter drops. Episode 6, titled “Keep It Together,” is set to premiere on September 16, continuing the weekly rollout that has defined the second season of ‘Average Joe‘ since its return.

The Paramount+ action comedy thriller has kept audiences hooked with its blend of dark humor and international intrigue, and the sixth episode arrives right as the group’s situation grows more desperate. Here is everything currently known about when and where to catch the new installment, along with a look at what has unfolded so far this season.

‘Average Joe’ Season 2 Episode 6 Release Date and Time

Paramount+ rolled out Season 2 of ‘Average Joe’ on August 19, 2026, giving viewers the first two episodes immediately before shifting to a weekly release pattern for the remaining six. Episode 1, “67 Days Later,” and Episode 2, “The Sea Gave Up the Dead,” both dropped on premiere day, and the series has stuck to a steady Wednesday cadence ever since.

After Episode 3 arrived on August 26, Episode 4, “Choose the Lion,” followed on September 2, with Episode 5, “Blindspot,” landing September 9, and Episode 6, “Keep It Together,” rounding out the middle stretch on September 16. That keeps the show right on schedule as it heads toward its eight episode finish line.

As for the exact drop time, Paramount+ does not appear to publish a bespoke release time for ‘Average Joe’ specifically, but the platform has a well documented pattern for its Wednesday originals. Multiple other Paramount+ series, including ‘Landman’ and ‘School Spirits,’ have consistently dropped new episodes around midnight Pacific time, which is 3am Eastern, and fans should expect that same early morning window for the new episode.

Once Episode 6 arrives, the countdown to the end of the season officially begins. Episode 7, “Simple Pleasure,” is set to land on September 23, pushing the season toward its finale in late September.

Where to Watch ‘Average Joe’ Season 2?

In the United States, ‘Average Joe’ Season 2 is available with a Paramount+ subscription, and the season can also be streamed through the Paramount+ Prime Video Channel, the Paramount+ Apple TV Channel, or the Paramount+ Roku Premium Channel. Canadian viewers have the same options, streaming directly through Paramount+ or via the Paramount+ Prime Video Channel.

In Australia, viewers can watch Average Joe Season 2 with a Paramount+ subscription, or through the Paramount+ Prime Video Channel. For those outside of those regions, the general advice is to use a VPN and connect to a US server before logging into Paramount+ to stream the episodes as they release.

The show has changed streaming homes since it first hit screens. ‘Average Joe’ premiered on BET+ on June 26, 2023 and later added to Netflix on August 15, 2024, but it moved its streaming home to Paramount+ in June following the shuttering of BET+ after Paramount bought out Tyler Perry Studios’ minority stake in the platform. Newcomers wondering if a rewatch is necessary can rest easy, since all episodes of Season 1 are now streaming on Paramount+ alongside the new season.

What to Expect from “Keep It Together”?

Season 2 of ‘Average Joe’ has leaned harder into globe trotting danger than ever before. The season finds Deon Cole returning as Joe Washington, a Pittsburgh plumber whose discovery of his late father’s criminal dealings has put him and his loved ones in peril, and to uncover who is behind a new and mysterious threat targeting his family, Joe enlists his friends Leon, Cathy and Touch to accompany him to Cape Town, South Africa. What started as a search for answers has only spiraled further out of control.

The episodes leading into “Keep It Together” have raised the stakes considerably. In “Choose the Lion,” Sipho increases the bounty on the Americans while Phylis invites Touch to a sacred place, Imani helps Joe find another hidden clue which leads them to a devastating discovery, and downtown, Leon and Cathy’s relationship is tested in unexpected ways. That fallout appears to carry directly into the next chapter.

According to the official synopsis, Episode 6 finds the group at a breaking point. Joe and the boys are forced into the shadows, while Cathy plays a dangerous game and dares to strike a deal with Sipho, and Cathy’s plans quickly unravel leaving her exposed, revealing she is not the only one with tricks up her sleeves. It is shaping up to be one of the more tense turns of the back half of the season.

‘Average Joe’s’ Track Record and Cast

Part of the reason anticipation keeps building around each new episode is the show’s reputation with critics and audiences alike. ‘Average Joe’ Season 1 debuted to strong reviews, earning an 86 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and quickly becoming the number one scripted drama series on BET+ during its debut week. Season 2 has continued to build on that goodwill with its Cape Town set storyline.

The series was created by Robb Cullen, and the cast driving the Cape Town arc includes familiar faces from the first season. Malcolm Barrett plays Leon, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams plays Cathy, and Michael Trucco plays Touch, all of whom join Cole’s Joe on the increasingly dangerous mission overseas.

With three episodes left after “Keep It Together” drops, the pieces are falling into place for a chaotic final stretch. Between Cathy’s unraveling scheme, Sipho’s growing bounty, and Joe’s crew being pushed further into hiding, there is a lot riding on what happens next in Cape Town.

How do you think Cathy’s deal with Sipho is going to blow up in her face, and who do you think still has the biggest secret left to expose before the season ends.
