‘Batwoman’ Star Ruby Rose Breaks Silence on Noel Clarke, Says She Reported Him Years Before Charges Were Filed

Noel Clarke built a decades-long career in British film and television, known best for his roles in ‘Doctor Who’ and the crime drama ‘Bulletproof,’ along with writing and directing credits across ‘Kidulthood’ and ‘Adulthood.’ That reputation began unraveling back in 2021, when a major investigative report first surfaced allegations against him from women across the industry.

That original report, published by The Guardian, included accounts from more than 20 women accusing Clarke of groping, inappropriate sexual conduct, and bullying, with some incidents allegedly tied to the set of ‘Doctor Who.’ Clarke denied all the claims at the time and later sued the publication for libel, ultimately losing that case in August 2025.

Now, five years after that initial report, Clarke has been formally charged. London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed this week that he faces six sexual-related offenses, including two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism, and one count of exposure, with the alleged incidents involving five women spanning 2007 to 2016.

The news prompted ‘Orange Is the New Black’ star Ruby Rose to speak out publicly for the first time about her own experience working alongside Clarke. Rose starred opposite Clarke in the 2021 thriller ‘SAS: Rise of the Black Swan,’ playing Grace Lewis to his lead role as Major Bisset, in a cast that also included Andy Serkis, Tom Hopper, Hannah John-Kamen, and Sam Heughan.

“Noel Clarke has been charged,” Rose wrote in a Threads post. “Years ago he preyed on a woman who worked on our SAS film. I reported him. No one cared. I was told not to get involved. Nobody followed up. So many came forward, finally some justice.”

Rose did not provide further specifics about the incident in her post, and representatives for both Rose and Clarke had not immediately responded to requests for comment at the time the allegations were first reported. It’s a striking addition to a growing list of accounts that have followed Clarke since the original 2021 allegations first surfaced.

The fallout from that initial Guardian investigation was swift and significant even before this week’s criminal charges. Sky canceled Clarke’s television series ‘Bulletproof’ following the allegations, and BAFTA suspended his membership along with revoking his honorary Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award just months after the report was published.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the newly filed charges stem from an investigation opened in September 2025, with the Crown Prosecution Service authorizing the case after reviewing a file of evidence connected to the five women involved. Clarke is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 21.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney addressed the case directly, noting that the women connected to the charges continue receiving support from specially trained officers and encouraging anyone who has experienced sexual assault to come forward to police, emphasizing that reports would be handled with sensitivity by trained investigators.

Rose’s allegation adds another layer to what has become one of the more prolonged reckonings in recent UK entertainment history, spanning half a decade between the initial public allegations and the criminal charges now moving through the courts. Whether more accounts will surface as the case proceeds toward trial remains to be seen, but Rose’s decision to speak out publicly suggests the scrutiny around Clarke’s history is far from over.

For an industry still grappling with how allegations like these are handled internally, Rose’s account of being told not to get involved adds a troubling new dimension to an already difficult story.
