First Look At Doctor Doom’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Funko Pop Revealed
Marvel Studios has treated Doctor Doom’s transformation into the Multiverse Saga’s next big bad as one of its most carefully managed reveals in years. Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as the iconic villain generated instant buzz the moment it was announced, and the studio has since drip-fed glimpses of his new look through everything from official posters to international marketing expos.
That marketing rollout has extended well beyond traditional promotional materials, with merchandise increasingly serving as another avenue for fans to catch early looks at how characters will actually appear on screen. Funko Pop figures in particular have become something of an unofficial spoiler pipeline for major franchise films, often revealing costume and character details before official trailers do.
That pattern continued this week with a first look at the Doctor Doom Funko Pop figure for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,‘ which is set to become available starting October 4. The figure depicts Downey’s version of the villain in his signature metallic mask and dark green cloak, wielding a weapon that hints at the character’s technologically enhanced approach to combat.
That October release window places the figure well ahead of the film’s own theatrical debut, giving collectors and fans a tangible preview of Doom’s design more than two months before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ actually hits theaters. Marvel and Funko have leaned heavily into positioning Doom at the center of the film’s overall marketing push, given how central Downey’s performance is expected to be to the story.
This isn’t the first glimpse fans have gotten of Doom-related merchandise ahead of release. Iron Studios previously unveiled a wave of collectible figures at San Diego Comic-Con, including a quarter-scale Doom figure alongside statues of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto, giving fans an early look at how the film’s X-Men storyline might factor into the broader narrative.
Retailer listings have also pointed to a broader wave of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Funko Pops arriving around the same general timeframe, with previous reports indicating figures for Thor, Mr. Fantastic, Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Shang-Chi, Namor, and Yelena Belova all set for release in the months surrounding the film’s premiere. That scale of merchandise output reflects just how massive the film’s ensemble cast has become, spanning Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four characters all converging within a single story.
Within the film itself, Downey’s Doctor Doom is set to play a central role as a super-genius ruler of Latveria on an alternate Earth, believing himself to be the only one capable of stopping a multiversal crisis caused by incursions between realities. That framing positions Doom less as a straightforward villain and more as a morally complex antagonist convinced of his own righteousness, a dynamic that’s already generated significant fan discussion since his casting was first revealed.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is directed by the Russo Brothers and produced through their AGBO banner alongside Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito, marking the culmination of years of setup across the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. The film is set to hit theaters and IMAX screens on December 18, with its follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ already scheduled for December 17, 2027.
Given how much of the film’s marketing has leaned on Doom-centric imagery so far, this new Funko Pop reveal fits neatly into a rollout strategy clearly designed to keep the villain at the forefront of fan conversation heading into the holiday release window. With merchandise arriving well ahead of the film itself, collectors eager to get their hands on Downey’s take on the character won’t have to wait for the movie to see it up close.
