Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller universe has never been shy about putting its characters through the wringer, but ‘Lioness‘ has taken that formula somewhere more personal this season. What started as a story about undercover missions overseas has increasingly become about the toll those missions take once the danger follows characters home.

That shift has been especially visible for Laysla De Oliveira’s Cruz Manuelos, whose journey from a reluctant Marine recruit to a seasoned operative has quietly become the emotional backbone of the entire series.
