McConaughey leaned directly into the joke, telling Harrelson, “You’ve had many talks with my mom before,” while Harrelson claimed his own father had once known McConaughey’s mother. The pair continued riffing on the possibility that their parents had crossed paths in ways that might explain the family resemblance rumors, with McConaughey eventually joking, “That’s a pretty big lead for you to believe that your dad and my mom actually shagged.”
The bit wasn’t just a random callback, either. McConaughey and Harrelson are set to star together in a new Apple TV+ comedy series titled ‘Brothers,’ a show that was directly inspired by the real-world speculation about their possible biological connection.
