Jo Malone Just Launched a Dog Shampoo, and It’s Already Sold Out Thanks to ‘MobLand’ Star Tom Hardy
Luxury fragrance houses don’t often venture into pet care, but when they do, the collaboration usually needs a genuinely compelling hook to stand out in an already crowded grooming market. Pairing a beloved perfume brand with a movie star and his equally famous dog turns out to be exactly that kind of hook.
Jo Malone London, the Estée Lauder-owned fragrance and lifestyle house known for its colognes and scented candles, has stepped into an entirely new category for the very first time. The brand recently unveiled its first-ever pet-care product, introducing a shampoo specifically formulated for dogs rather than the perfume-focused lineup it’s best known for.
The new launch, called Jo Malone London x WildWash Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo, was developed in partnership with British pet-care brand WildWash and rolled out nationwide across the UK on September 1. The 285-milliliter bottle retails for eighteen pounds and has already reportedly sold out following its debut, driven largely by the star power behind its launch campaign.
The shampoo is formulated with naturally derived orange and cedarwood essential oils, designed to transform into a refreshing lather that freshens a dog’s coat and leaves it with a healthy shine without stripping away its natural oils. Each bottle features one of four collectible illustrations depicting different dog breeds, with online shoppers receiving a randomly selected design as a surprise, while in-store customers get to choose their preferred illustration directly.
Speaking about the collaboration, Jo Malone London’s Global Head of Fragrance, Céline Roux, explained the thinking behind teaming up with WildWash specifically. “It’s important for us to open up new paths, to do new things. We did it with WildWash because they are the best, and the collaboration with Tom Hardy was just as natural,” she told NSS G-Club.
The launch campaign stars actor Tom Hardy, a longtime Jo Malone London brand ambassador who’s previously appeared in the brand’s Cypress & Grapevine fragrance campaigns, alongside his French bulldog Blue. In the commercial, Hardy attempts to convince a visibly reluctant Blue that bath time is a good idea, giving the campaign a lighthearted, relatable edge that fits neatly alongside the brand’s typically polished image.
Blue’s presence in Jo Malone London’s marketing isn’t new, either, since the bulldog has already made previous appearances in the brand’s campaign films alongside Hardy. That existing familiarity likely played a role in making the pairing feel like a natural extension of the brand’s identity rather than a random celebrity tie-in.
For a brand built almost entirely around personal fragrance, moving into dog grooming marks a genuine expansion of Jo Malone London’s product category, even as it maintains the same emphasis on natural ingredients and signature scent profiles that define its core perfume lineup. Given the shampoo’s rapid sellout following launch, the pairing of luxury fragrance branding with Hardy’s undeniable star power appears to have paid off almost immediately.
