One prediction pegs an announcement for late 2027 or early 2028, with an actual release most likely landing in spring 2029 on Crunchyroll. The same source frames the wait as a trade off worth making. The reasoning is that it would be better for Studio Bones to take its time rather than rush through the source material and weaken what made the first season so memorable, and if the studio maintains its quality standards while Arakawa keeps delivering strong monthly chapters, a future season could become one of the biggest anime events of that year.
