‘Outer Banks’ Star Madelyn Cline Steals Milan Fashion Week in a Sheer Paisley Etro Dress With a Feathered Hem

Milan Fashion Week has a way of rewarding anyone who dresses for the camera, and Madelyn Cline has spent the past few days doing exactly that. Between a runway debut, a front-row seat and plenty of street-style sightings, the ‘Outer Banks’ star has been one of the busiest guests in the city.

The September edition runs from September 22 to 28 and covers the Spring/Summer 2027 women’s collections, with 54 physical shows and six digital ones on the calendar. Front rows have been stacked with names like Monica Bellucci, Rachel Zegler, Kelly Rutherford and Jordyn Woods, so standing out takes some effort. Cline seems to have planned for that.

Now, fresh photos of her Etro look are making the rounds. Fashion account Cinethology shared a set of images on September 24 showing her in golden light, hair pinned into a high top-knot, posing against a window frame in a sleeveless, semi-sheer dark dress with an intricate print. It appears to be the same piece that drew attention at Etro’s Spring/Summer 2027 show.

According to theFashionSpot, Cline wore a sleeveless midi dress from Etro’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, the same design that appeared on the runway earlier this year. The dress was printed in olive, mustard and burgundy tones across a see-through base, while a draped funnel neckline framed her face. A dense black feather trim anchored the hem.

The details are what make it work. The classic paisley gives the dress a heritage feel, and the feathers add weight and movement below the sheer body, so the overall effect reads modern rather than costume-y. In the photos, the fabric’s translucency and the fringe at the bottom catch the low sun beautifully.

It was her second Etro outfit of the week. That continues a run of bold dressing that also included the ultra-sheer gown she wore to the premiere of the final season of ‘Outer Banks’.

Her Milan run began on Tuesday at Vogue World: Milano, held at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where she made her runway debut during Act III of the presentation. She wore a floral gown from Etro’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection, with a fitted corseted bodice, a deeply plunging neckline and a ruffled mermaid skirt that trailed into a train. She layered it with a long double-breasted navy velvet jacket.

Away from the spotlight, her off-duty style has been just as visible. Marie Claire noted that she arrived on the first day of fashion week and, before the Etro show, tested more supportive shoes, including chunky Dr. Martens boots and Adidas’s Samba-inspired Mary Jane sneakers. She paired the Samba Janes with a white crop top, black mini skirt, a matching paisley bandana and a red Chanel Maxi Flap bag.

The Etro show started after sunset, which gave her time to work the city’s street-style circuit before switching into the sheer dress. The bandana’s paisley print makes an unexpected echo of the dress she wore later.

Sheer dressing has become a signature for Cline this year. She wore a barely-there chiffon gown by Siedres for the ‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 premiere and a polka-dot mesh Stella McCartney set for a New York press appearance in August. Wikipedia lists the Netflix series as running from 2020 to 2026, so this fashion run coincides with the show’s farewell.

The timing makes sense for an actress whose star is still rising. She has also appeared in ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ and the 2025 slasher film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, and fashion week has become a natural stage for her post-‘Outer Banks’ era.
