‘Reacher’ Season Four Tops Streaming Charts for Fifth Straight Week

Prime Video has spent the past several years quietly assembling one of streaming’s most reliable hits, and ‘Reacher’ has emerged as the crown jewel of that strategy. Based on Lee Child’s bestselling Jack Reacher novels, the series has built a devoted audience that keeps showing up week after week, long past the usual premiere-week spike most streaming shows rely on.

That kind of staying power is rare in an industry where attention typically shifts to the next big release within days. Most streaming originals see viewership drop off sharply once the initial buzz fades, making sustained performance the real test of a show’s staying power.

‘Reacher‘ has clearly passed that test. According to Nielsen’s streaming rankings, the Prime Video original generated 1.18 billion viewing minutes for the week of September 7 to 13, marking the fifth consecutive week that Season 4 has surpassed the billion-minute threshold since its mid-August premiere.

That performance was enough to make ‘Reacher’ the number one overall streaming title in the United States for that week, extending a streak that has seen the series hold the top spot in four of the five weeks since Season 4 debuted. The show’s competition during that stretch included Netflix’s ‘The Gentlemen,’ which climbed 22% to 881 million minutes following its second season premiere, and Hulu’s ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ which drew 561 million minutes with a new season release.

Lee Child Warns ‘Reacher’ Is Heading Somewhere Very Dark With Its Next Season

Season 4 premiered on August 12, adapting Lee Child’s novel ‘Gone Tomorrow’ and shifting the story’s setting from New York to Philadelphia. The premiere week alone generated 1.5 billion minutes watched across the full series, with roughly 1.19 billion of those minutes coming specifically from the three new episodes released that week.

That opening was actually somewhat lower than the launches of the previous three seasons, which Nielsen measured between 1.69 billion and 1.84 billion minutes. Even so, the premiere still ranked as the fifth-biggest Nielsen week in the show’s history, a testament to just how consistently large ‘Reacher’s’ audience has remained across four seasons.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings only measure U.S. viewing on television sets, meaning the actual global audience for the series, which spans computers and mobile devices as well, is likely even larger than the reported figures suggest.

The franchise’s strength has only continued growing since the Season 4 finale. A spinoff series titled ‘Neagley’ premiered on September 16 and quickly became the number one show on Prime Video within days, even surpassing its flagship series in the release week.

That kind of immediate success for a spinoff underscores just how much trust audiences have placed in the Jack Reacher universe as a whole. With ‘Reacher’ already renewed for a fifth season and Lee Child’s catalog offering no shortage of additional source material to adapt, Prime Video appears to have found a genuinely durable franchise rather than a one-off hit.

For a series built around a lone drifter solving increasingly dangerous conspiracies, that kind of sustained dominance across both a flagship show and its spinoff speaks to just how effectively the franchise has connected with audiences. Few action series manage to hold the top spot for this long without a single new episode airing in some of those weeks.

What do you think is the biggest reason ‘Reacher’ continues to dominate streaming charts?
