Scarlett Johansson’s(41) Office-Siren Prada Look Steals the Spotlight at the ‘Paper Tiger’ Premiere
Film festival season is when a red carpet does double duty. It sells the movie, and it gives fashion watchers something to argue about for a week. Scarlett Johansson’s Prada look at the ‘Paper Tiger‘ premiere is the latest proof.
The night carried extra weight because ‘Paper Tiger’, a crime drama with Johansson, Adam Driver and Miles Teller, opened the New York Film Festival. That made it the kickoff for the festival’s 64th edition, and a homecoming for a New York-set story.

On Friday night at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the two-time Oscar nominee turned to Prada for a business-style look that led with restraint. The dress was a sleeveless onyx-gray mini. Its boat neckline was slightly ruched, which gave the streamlined shape a touch of the “office siren” aesthetic that took off on TikTok in late 2024.
The piece was reportedly a Prada mohair dress in slate gray, priced at roughly $3,200. She kept the styling tight with strappy silver heels, a softly waved blonde bob and vivid red lipstick. A light pink Prada bag added a soft pop of color. Even the jewelry stayed quiet: Sophie Bille Brahe’s diamond-set Promenade earrings framed her face without competing with the dress.

Johansson wasn’t alone on the carpet. She arrived with husband Colin Jost, whom she has been married to for nearly 6 years. The pair coordinated their outfits, and it was their first joint red carpet appearance in more than a year.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ star went for a gray check suit with a pink shirt and a maroon tie. The palette echoed her dress almost perfectly, and the pink of her handbag tied the whole look together. It read as deliberate without feeling stiff.

The look also continued a long-running relationship. The Prada appearance added another chapter to a fashion partnership that has accompanied several of Johansson’s film appearances. She also fronted a Prada Galleria bag campaign directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, shot in September 2025.
Choosing the Italian house for a New York opening night made sense. It gave a moment about work and a hometown crowd a polished, workplace-ready wardrobe to match.
The night was also a long-awaited reunion. Johansson missed the film’s Cannes debut because she was shooting another project. This was her first time watching the movie in a festival setting, and she arrived jet-lagged after a long flight.
During the post-screening Q&A, she joked about her state, and as Variety reported, she told the crowd, “I’m hallucinating.” She added that it was an odd hour for a stage interview. Cannes still drew a jab: she joked about skipping the French Riviera.
Directed by James Gray, the story is set in 1986 and follows 2 brothers. One of them becomes entangled with the Russian mob after a get-rich-quick scheme to clean up the Gowanus Canal. Johansson plays the wife of Teller’s character.
Gray has said the story is loosely based on his own family’s encounter with the Russian mafia in 1980s New York. It is also his first film since ‘Armageddon Time’.

Early reactions are strong. The film holds an 85% average critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes across 60 reviews. Some commentators have started floating awards talk, including Teller for Best Actor, Driver for Best Supporting Actor and Johansson for Best Supporting Actress.
The festival opener was also a treat for film purists, because Neon presented every opening night screening in 35mm. As for when everyone else gets to see it, Neon has set a limited release for Nov. 13, followed by a wide release on Nov. 20.
The fashion conversation may fade quickly, but this outfit did what a great red carpet look should. It made people talk about the movie.
