‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Adds New Cast Members Ahead of Season 23, and Their Storylines Sound Explosive

Few shows have managed to stay fresh across as many seasons as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. As the longest-running scripted primetime series currently airing, and the longest-running medical drama in American television history, the ABC hit has built its reputation on constantly rotating faces through the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial while keeping its emotional core intact.

That tradition continues as Season 22 wrapped with a major shake-up. Series regulars Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver departed the show as Owen Hunt and Teddy Altman after the season finale, marking the first time since Season 5 and Season 15, respectively, that the pair won’t appear as regulars. With that kind of exit, fans have understandably been watching closely for who steps in next.

Now Variety reports that ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is filling out its Season 23 cast with 3 new names: Sarah Levy, Martin Martinez and Trevor Tordjman have all joined in guest-starring roles, each bringing a storyline that promises plenty of hospital drama.

Levy will play Corrie, described in the official character description as “witty and a bit of an oddball.” Corrie is very pregnant, and according to Variety, she “has a lot of anxiety about giving birth to her second child after the traumatic experience she had with her first child.”

Levy is best known for playing Twyla Sands in ‘Schitt’s Creek’, the acclaimed comedy created by and starring her father and brother, Eugene and Dan Levy. Her other credits include Hulu and Syfy’s ‘SurrealEstate’ and the Osgood Perkins film ‘The Monkey’, and she has upcoming roles in the films ‘Run’ and ‘Sidelined 3’.

Martinez steps into the role of Charlie, a character who “has had a rough upbringing and as a result of the trauma he’s experienced, he has a tough exterior and struggles to trust other people.” That kind of emotionally layered role fits neatly into the show’s long history of using patients to explore deeper psychological terrain.

Martinez has appeared in Netflix’s ‘Never Have I Ever’, ‘Magnum P.I.’ and Amazon’s ‘Primo’. He is also no stranger to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe, having previously appeared in the spin-off ‘Station 19’.

Tordjman will play Thomas, “the fun loving and charming boy next door who doesn’t realize he is as cute as he is.” Rather than being a patient himself, Thomas arrives at the hospital to make sure his brother’s girlfriend is okay, a setup that could easily pull him deeper into the show’s tangled web of relationships.

Tordjman has appeared in the Disney Kids and Family titles ‘Zombies’ and ‘Bunk’d’, as well as the Canadian series ‘The Next Step’. His credits also include Apple TV’s ‘The Studio’ and HBO Max’s ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 23 premieres on ABC on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The season was officially renewed back in March, with Meg Marinis returning for her fourth year as showrunner.

The renewal keeps the Shonda Rhimes-created hit as part of ABC’s 2026-2027 lineup alongside shows like ‘9-1-1’, ‘9-1-1: Nashville’, ‘Abbott Elementary’ and ‘High Potential’. Filming for the new season began in late July and is expected to run through March 2027.

Even after 22 seasons, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ continues to lean on new characters to keep its emotional stakes high. Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. remain the only cast members who have been with the series for its entire run, though Pompeo’s on-screen time has been reduced in recent years while she continues narrating the series as an executive producer.
