‘Avengers: Doomsday’ ScreenX Trailer Hints Kate Bishop Is Back, and Her Apartment Is the Clue

Marvel fans have been waiting to see Kate Bishop on the big screen since she stole scenes in ‘Hawkeye‘. She has been on the shelf ever since, aside from a brief cameo in the end-credits scene of ‘The Marvels’. Any hint that she could return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is bound to get attention.

Marvel has been rolling out that film’s marketing through premium formats. ScreenX wraps the traditional screen with two additional side panels for a 270-degree panoramic view, and the studio has been using it to preview ‘Doomsday‘ footage well ahead of December. A ScreenX trailer earlier this month focused on the original ‘X-Men’ cast, and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ became the first film to shoot additional footage specifically for the format.

The latest ScreenX trailer has revealed a new detail. According to ComicBook.com, the expanded view of a shot in which Scott Lang embraces his daughter Cassie shows that the two are standing in Kate Bishop’s apartment, which seemingly suggests that the Young Avenger is making her return. It is not official confirmation, but ComicBook.com called it perhaps as close as fans will get before the film’s December release.

The moment itself was already part of the buzz. The standard trailer shown at CinemaCon included a brief shot of Scott, played by Paul Rudd, kissing Cassie on the forehead. Den of Geek noted that the moment stood out, though comic book readers might see it as a warning sign in a Doctor Doom story.

The ScreenX version just adds context. With the wider frame, viewers can see that the family moment isn’t happening at Scott’s home, but in Kate’s apartment. That small change takes a throwaway beat and makes it a puzzle piece for the wider cast.

The apartment detail lines up with earlier chatter. Insider Majestic reported in March that Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang would appear in small roles, and said that some of them basically only have one scene together in an apartment. Majestic added that Ms. Marvel has the most significant role of the three.

Another scooper, Nerd Tower, said in February that a scene was filmed in Kate’s apartment and that only Kamala was in uniform. If true, that scene would continue the moment that began in ‘The Marvels’, when Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan recruited Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate for a new team. That same scene also hinted that Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang was next on Kamala’s list.

Not everyone has been confirmed. Newton officially announced her return as Cassie through a video showing a tiny director’s chair with her name on it. She is the third actress to play the character, and she also appeared in ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’.

Steinfeld and Vellani have not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, though several insiders have strongly hinted that both will appear. MCU Film News reported in April that Steinfeld would reportedly return, citing a scooper. That is why the apartment reveal is the most concrete evidence yet.

If Kate does show up, it would be a meaningful moment for her character. ComicBook.com noted that this would be her first substantial big-screen appearance in the MCU, since her role in ‘The Marvels’ was a brief cameo. It also pointed to a chance to reunite her with Yelena, whose shared scenes with Kate were among the funniest in ‘Hawkeye’.

The team-up angle matters too. The ‘Marvels’ scene was widely seen as a setup for a Young Avengers project, which reportedly evolved into a series called ‘Champions’. Having Kate, Kamala and Cassie share a scene in ‘Doomsday’ would fit neatly into that idea.

Marvel appears to be treating the ScreenX rollout as a series of small reveals. That approach rewards fans who look closely at each new format, and it keeps the film in the conversation months before release. The big-screen ScreenX trailer is now up on the format’s official channels, with tickets on sale.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ opens on December 18, directed by the Russo brothers. The film is expected to bring back a huge lineup, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and the original ‘X-Men’ cast. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Victor Von Doom.

For now, fans have a strong clue but no confirmation. Marvel may keep the details under wraps until closer to release, when more trailers and press could reveal who is in the film. Until then, the apartment scene will keep fueling speculation.

Whatever happens, the detail shows how much can be hidden in a wider frame. A single shot has turned a small family moment into a possible Kate Bishop return.
