LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ Shenron & Goku Set Is Finally Here, and Fans’ Wish Has Been Granted
Few pop-culture quests are as iconic as the hunt for 7 Dragon Balls. In the manga, Son Goku and Bulma travel to find the 7 orbs, which summon a dragon who grants the user a wish. Akira Toriyama kicked off that story in 1984, and it has now landed in brick form with the LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ Shenron & Goku set.
The build-up started on September 22. LEGO shared a short video of 6 Dragon Balls on a table until a 7th joined them, with a caption asking if fans were ready to make a wish. The teaser suggested the product was aimed at adults, and many guessed a Shenron display would follow.
The guess turned out to be right. Leaked images from Brick Tap surfaced on September 28, and the box images pointed to product number 11390, 1,764 pieces and a price of $180.
On September 29, the official LEGO Japan account on X made it official. Its post invited fans to voice any wish, promised that their adventure with LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ begins here, and listed an 11/4 release for Dragon Ball Shenron & Son Goku (11390). The 11-second video attached to the post had passed 393.6K views.

The set is part of the LEGO Icons line. It is recommended for adults aged 18 and up, and it costs £129.99 / $179.99 / €139.99. Once built, it stands 12.5 inches tall.
The model shows Shenron in a dramatic coiled pose, rising from the 7 Dragon Balls. For stability, the dragon winds around a large brick pillar, and the Dragon Balls are Technic balls printed with 1 to 7 stars.
Goku joins the display as a minifigure. Kid Goku rides the Kintoun, and builders can detach and reposition him. The set also includes his Power Pole and a brand-new hair piece made to capture his spiky style. The plaque carries the original manga logo, and the young Goku still has his Saiyan tail.
The designer behind the dragon is a fan of the franchise. Senior Model Designer Jae Won Lee is a longtime Dragon Ball fan, and he explained the dragon has 4 legs because Shenron is based on the Asian dragon. He also noted that the snake-like body was tricky to connect and turn with square bricks.
The set is available for LEGO Insiders Early Access from November 1, and for everyone from November 4 via LEGO Stores and LEGO.com/DragonBall. That matches the date in the LEGO Japan post.
This is only the opening chapter. The set is the first product from a new partnership between the LEGO Group and Toei Animation, with more Dragon Ball sets to follow in 2027 and beyond. LEGO senior VP Federico Begher also suggested more is on the way.
Rumors are already circling about what those sets might be. A first wave of 9 sets is reportedly planned for April, with minifigures of Goku, Frieza, Vegeta and the entire Ginyu Force, plus a rumored 18+ Kame House set. None of that is confirmed by LEGO yet.
The timing makes sense, as LEGO has been leaning further into anime lately. A full ‘One Piece’ theme is on the way, and a LEGO Ideas ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ set is in the works. Dragon Ball was one of LEGO’s most requested franchises, so fans have been waiting a long time.
The early reaction has been warm. In a Reddit thread on the leaked images, 1 commenter said it looked better than expected, and others compared it favorably to LEGO’s Rayquaza build.
