Florence Pugh Flaunts Effortless Allure in a Sensual Silk Look at the ‘East of Eden’ Premiere
Florence Pugh has treated the ‘East of Eden‘ press tour like a rolling fashion exhibition, and the final stop did not disappoint. Working with stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray, she has moved from gothic ruffles to ethereal white to sleek black over the past 2 weeks. Each look has been dissected by fans and fashion outlets alike.
The tour kicked off on Sept. 17 at a West Hollywood screening, where Pugh wore an embroidered yellow tulle Rodarte ensemble with Bulgari jewelry. In London on Sept. 25, she wore a voluminous black Rodarte Fall 2026 gown to the BAFTA screening, a collection inspired by the 1977 horror film ‘Suspiria’. Back in New York on Sept. 27, she went for a white Erdem Resort 2027 dress with silver embellishments at the Paley Center for Media.

Then came the big finish. At Netflix’s ‘East of Eden’ New York premiere at The Plaza Hotel on Sept. 30, Pugh wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown that closed out her press run, and Entertainment Tonight’s video shows the silk skirt in a soft gray. The top half was chartreuse satin, with sculptural puffed shoulders that stood up around her neck and balloon sleeves that flared out dramatically.

Underneath, a corset bodice had a deep plunging neckline and a black zip down the middle, covered in dark beaded embroidery that looked like branches against the bright yellow-green fabric. A gold Bulgari choker with a large green center stone surrounded by pink gems picked up the bodice colors, and she added a couple of large diamond rings. Fiction Horizon noted that the gown pairs a corseted period silhouette with a bold modern color, which suits a story set across generations.

The look was a notable shift from the rest of the tour. Where her earlier outfits leaned on black, white and soft florals, the chartreuse brought a sudden jolt of color. It also tied back to Westwood, since Pugh had already worn the British house on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ in a black dress and in a green striped shirt during her London press day.
Pugh has leaned heavily on British designers during her stateside stops. WWD noted that she paired the Erdem screening look with a Vivienne Westwood ensemble for her Fallon appearance, with both outfits built around a black-and-white color scheme. She also wore black Erdem to the ‘East of Eden’ after-party, picking a London-based label that fits her roots.
Bulgari has been a constant, too. Pugh serves as a global ambassador for the jeweler alongside Anne Hathaway and Zendaya, and the brand’s jewels have appeared in nearly every look. That consistency gives the tour a recognizable thread even as the clothes change dramatically.

East of Eden, a fresh interpretation of the Steinbeck classic, premieres October 1.

All of that styling supports a very large release. Netflix’s ‘East of Eden’ is Zoe Kazan’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel, and all 7 episodes arrive on Oct. 1. The story spans decades, from the American Civil War through World War I, and focuses new attention on Pugh’s character, the antihero Cathy Ames, who she also executive produces.
The premiere drew a notable crowd to The Plaza. Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist, who play brothers Adam and Charles Trask, attended alongside Kazan, who was joined by her husband, Paul Dano. Aubrey Plaza, Carrie Coon, Martha Plimpton and Grace Gummer were also on the carpet.
Kazan serves as writer, co-showrunner and executive producer alongside co-showrunner Jeb Stuart. Her grandfather directed the classic 1955 film adaptation, which starred James Dean in his first major leading role. That family history adds extra weight to a project that has been nearly 4 years in the making.
With the press tour wrapped, the focus now shifts entirely to the series itself. Pugh’s wardrobe has done a lot of the early talking, turning each appearance into a conversation about Cathy’s darker and brighter sides. Whether viewers find the same range on screen is the real test.
