Few actors have had a year quite like Inde Navarrette’s. The 25-year-old star went from a supporting TV role to the face of a viral horror hit, and fashion glossies like Cosmopolitan France have clearly taken notice.

Her rise has been fast but not accidental. She was born on March 3, 2001 in Tucson, Arizona, attended 11 schools by age 15 because of her father’s Marine Corps postings, and landed her first role in the Snapchat sitcom ‘Denton’s Death Date’ in 2019.

The newest piece of that momentum is a set of images from Cosmopolitan France. According to a post from Cinethology on October 3, Navarrette was photographed by Nas Nixx Hexxin for the magazine, and other social posts say she covers the October issue.

The photos lean into bold color. One frame shows her lying on a deep blue backdrop in a pale corset-style top and patterned mini skirt, her long dark hair fanned out around her. A close-up captures her in a soft, moody light. It is a polished editorial look for an actress who built her name on genre work.

Navarrette stars as Nikki Freeman in ‘Obsession’, the horror film directed by first-time filmmaker Curry Barker. The story follows a music store worker who uses a magical object called the One Wish Willow to win over a coworker, with horrifying consequences.

The film grossed more than $400 million worldwide and began streaming on Peacock on July 17. Navarrette has said she did not want Nikki to come across as insane, choosing instead to play her as a grounded person, and the performance earned her a Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Horror Movie.

Before ‘Obsession’, she joined ’13 Reasons Why’ for its fourth season in 2020 and signed with Creative Artists Agency in 2021. She then played Sarah Cushing across 47 episodes of ‘Superman & Lois’ from 2021 to 2024, leaving the series because of budget cuts.

Her profile has only grown since. Reports describe her as the current it girl, with meetings that included directors Jake Schreier and Michael Mann.

The biggest news may be her casting as Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming ‘X-Men’ film, announced at Disney’s D23 in August. Schreier is directing the project, and the ensemble includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Maya Boyd as Storm, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott and Samara Weaving.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Navarrette said she has studied the character closely and wants to do the role justice for herself and for Schreier. The film is listed for 2028, giving her plenty of time to prepare.

Next up is a major television milestone. Navarrette will make her hosting debut on ‘Saturday Night Live’ on October 31 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with Gracie Abrams as the musical guest.

She is also set to star in ‘The Waffle House Index’, an Apple Original Films sci-fi thriller from Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, which will give her an executive producer credit for the first time. Meanwhile, she recently finished filming ‘Invertigo’, a horror thriller in which she plays the lead.

Navarrette’s background adds to her appeal. Her mother is an Australian hairstylist who gave her the nickname Inde because of her fiercely independent nature as a child. She is also a gaming enthusiast who formerly livestreamed on Twitch and YouTube.

That mix of genre credibility, online-native charm and now high-fashion exposure makes her one of the more interesting rising names in Hollywood right now.

A magazine shoot may seem small next to a Marvel casting or a Halloween hosting gig, but it shows how quickly her profile has expanded. Before ‘Obsession’, she was best known for a supporting role on a superhero series, and now she is carrying horror hits, fashion editorials and franchise expectations at once. That is a lot of momentum for an actress who is still early in her career.

Which Inde Navarrette project are you most excited for?
