Marvel Lets Fans Sit With Loki on the Throne of Yggdrasil in a Marathon Ambiance Video
Marvel has spent years turning its biggest moments into things fans can revisit, rewatch and dissect. Few have stuck with viewers like the end of ‘Loki‘ Season 2, when Tom Hiddleston’s trickster finally found what he had been chasing since his first appearance in the MCU.
That finale, titled “Glorious Purpose,” saw Loki sacrifice himself not just for his friends but for every possible timeline in the MCU. He became the God of Stories, seated at the center of Yggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse mythology that gives structure to the universe. Season 2 ran for 6 episodes on Disney+ in the fall of 2023, and the ending has remained a favorite talking point ever since.
Now Marvel is giving fans a way to live in that moment. The company has released a video titled “Loki Becomes the God of Stories | ‘Purpose is Glorious’ Ambiance” on its Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, and it runs for 10 hours.
The video is an ambiance-style upload built around a single piece of artwork. It shows Loki seated on a throne in his green outfit and horned crown, with glowing green strands of energy radiating outward from his outstretched hands. A cartoon clock character with a smiling face also appears beside the throne, adding a playful touch to an otherwise epic image.
Marvel’s description leans into the joke of its runtime. It says that Loki fashions the Temporal Loom into a time tree, becoming one with the tree “for all time (or at least 10 hours).” The video’s actual runtime is 10 hours and 10 seconds, so fans who press play will get the full marathon.
The upload drew attention almost immediately. According to the page at the time of the screenshot, the video had 48,000 views just 2 hours after going live, along with 5,900 likes and 670 comments. The channel has 23.8 million subscribers, which helps explain how quickly it spread.
The concept is a natural fit for the platform. Ambiance videos are a popular genre for studying, relaxing or simply leaving on in the background, and Marvel is clearly betting that the God of Stories era of Loki is iconic enough to anchor one. It is also a reminder of how strongly the season finale resonated with fans.
Hiddleston has reflected on the ending since it aired. He told TheWrap that he was pleased with where the story landed, describing it as significant, profound and correct. He also said he felt very satisfied by the ending and hoped audiences were moved by it.
The timing of the video is interesting, too. Loki is part of the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ story, which opens on December 18, and Hiddleston has said his character picks up from the glorious purpose he found at the end of Season 2. In that sense, the new video works as both a nostalgic treat and a quiet reminder of where the character left off.
There is something fitting about the format. Loki’s story ended with him choosing to hold everything together at the center of a tree, a quiet and endless act of responsibility, and a 10-hour video leans into that same sense of permanence. It is a lighthearted gesture from Marvel, but it also shows the studio understands why the moment landed.
Whether you play it while working, studying or simply sitting with the God of Stories, the video offers a calm break from the usual pace of Marvel promotion.
