Netflix is about to give romance fans a very literal jolt. ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ follows a man whose artificial heart is running out of battery and a woman with the unique power to recharge him. Kim Young Kwang and Chae Soo Bin lead the cast, and both are returning to the romantic comedy genre.

The premise sounds like pure fantasy rom com catnip, and it comes from a popular source. The series is based on a Naver web novel, and it arrives with a poster and a teaser trailer already out. Here is everything we know about the release date, trailer, cast and plot of ‘Take Charge of My Heart.’

‘Take Charge of My Heart’ Release Date and Where to Watch

Netflix has announced that the series premieres on October 9. The date landed earlier than many fans expected. The show was previously slotted for late October or November, but a schedule shuffle moved it up after another drama was pushed back.

Viewers will not have to wait week to week for the story to unfold. All twelve episodes arrive at once, and each runs roughly one hour and ten minutes. That makes it an easy weekend binge for anyone who likes their romance in one big sitting.

Netflix is the exclusive global home for the series. No other platform will carry it, so a subscription is the only way in.

Official Trailer and Teaser Breakdown

The teaser wastes no time setting up the electricity. It opens with Na Bo Bae’s secret confession, revealing that she developed mysterious electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. It is a quirky hook that tells you right away this romance will not play by ordinary rules.

The footage also shows how the central relationship begins. The two meet again at a hospital, where Ho Rang is getting the final surgery to swap his artificial heart’s battery for a high power one. The scene sets the stakes in a way that is both funny and a little bittersweet.

A longer look is available too. Netflix confirmed the date in early September alongside a teaser, a poster and an official trailer of about a minute and a half on the Netflix K Content YouTube channel. If you want a taste of the chemistry between the leads, that is the place to start.

Cast and Characters Fans Should Know

Kim Young Kwang plays Baek Ho Rang, a third generation chaebol heir who runs a resort for one of the nation’s top conglomerates. He is a gifted businessman and a strong candidate to lead the group, and the only thing holding him back is the artificial heart beating beneath his polished image. Fans may know the actor from his earlier Netflix work on ‘Trigger’ and ‘On Your Wedding Day.’

Chae Soo Bin steps into the role of Na Bo Bae, a screenwriter racing to finish a romance screenplay before her contract expires. Her previous credits include ‘When the Phone Rings’ and ‘The Fabulous.’ Casting a screenwriter who has never lived out a love story herself is a nice meta touch for a rom com.

The supporting players round out the ensemble. Cha Woo Min plays Ji Eun Ho and Jung Jae Kwang plays Choi Do Yun. One Netflix schedule roundup also lists Shin Do Hyun in the cast.

Plot Details and Behind the Scenes

The story runs on a ticking clock. Ho Rang needs Bo Bae to keep his heart going for three months until he can have another surgery, which he wants so he can take over TS Group. Bo Bae has her own three month deadline, since her writer contract is almost up and she must produce a good romance even though her electric touch has kept her from ever dating.

That is where the arrangement gets its spark. Ho Rang makes her an unplanned offer in the form of a contract she can’t refuse. Her condition, which would normally hurt a person, ends up charging his heart instead.

The creative team behind the series is notable too. Park Soo Won directs, Song You Chae writes, and NEW POINT and WHYNOT MEDIA produce. Park’s earlier credits include ‘Birthcare Center.’ Filming has been ongoing since July 2025.

With a fake contract, a dying battery and a heroine who can power a heart but cannot hold hands without consequences, this show has everything a fan of the genre could want. If you had Bo Bae’s electric touch and only three months to use it, would you sign Ho Rang’s contract or write your own love story first, and which of those two deadlines feels more romantic to you?
