‘Below’ Star Josh Hartnett (48) and Tamsin Egerton (37) Turn Heads in Rare All-Black Red Carpet Date Night at the Albies

Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton aren’t a couple you see on the red carpet very often. Hartnett made a conscious choice in the mid-2000s to keep Hollywood at bay, and the pair have long preferred a low-key life away from showbiz parties.

That makes every public outing feel like an event. Their last appearance together before this year was a UK red carpet in summer 2024, and they reunited in January for the Jacquemus men’s show in Paris. Hartnett wore a white pinstripe jacket with a matching tie that night, while Egerton picked a bright red dress and a statement gold necklace.

Now the couple has stepped out again, this time for the Albies in London on Friday, October 9. Hartnett wore a black suit with a crisp white shirt and black tie, while Egerton chose a long-sleeved black dress with a high slit, sheer tights and pointed black heels. They posed together in front of a backdrop featuring the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Microsoft and Gucci logos.

The all-black palette was a sharp contrast to the bold color of their Paris outing. It gave the evening a sleek, understated feel, which suits a couple that has never chased the spotlight.

Hartnett and Egerton live in the UK with their 4 children. Hartnett revealed the size of the family on a red carpet in 2024, casually mentioning that he has 4 kids during an interview with Gold Derby.

The Albies are the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s annual awards, and this year’s ceremony at London’s Natural History Museum was the 5th edition. George and Amal Clooney established the event in 2022 and named it after Justice Albie Sachs, the South African anti-apartheid leader who survived imprisonment, exile and an assassination attempt.

This year’s 6 honorees were Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy, Malawian girls’ rights advocate Vanessa Mwangala, American photojournalist Lynsey Addario, the Congolese organization Justice Plus and Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith. The Clooneys said they want the honorees, and everyone advocating for justice around the globe, to know the world is watching and that they are not alone.

George Clooney explained to The Hollywood Reporter why the Albies put the spotlight on justice: “It feels like it’s in short supply.”

Hartnett and Egerton joined a crowded guest list that also included Emily Ratajkowski, Felicity Jones, Laura Dern, Isla Fisher, Emma Thompson and Hannah Waddingham. Anna Wintour, Melinda Gates and Poppy Delevingne were among the other famous faces in attendance.

Amal Clooney drew plenty of attention in a gold sequined Gucci column gown with a wide neckline and barely-there straps. It was a fitting choice for a night when Gucci joined as the newest Sentinel Sponsor and exclusive fashion partner. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty and Microsoft returned as sponsors.

The glamour arrived in London during a big week, with the BFI London Film Festival also pulling famous names to the capital. For Hartnett, known for ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Black Hawk Down’ and ‘Oppenheimer’, and Egerton, who has starred in ‘St. Trinian’s’ and ‘Love, Rosie’, it was a rare chance to share a red carpet.

The pair met on the set of ‘The Lovers’ in 2011, began dating in 2012 and married in a quiet ceremony in London in November 2021. A source close to them once said they were happy to live a low-key life and stay under the radar.

After so many years of keeping their private life private, a red carpet date night like this one is bound to draw attention. Their appearances remain few and far between, which only makes each one more notable.

What do you think of Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton’s all-black red carpet look at the Albies?
