Hannah Waddingham (52) and Juno Temple’s (37) Emmy Photo Is Pure ‘Ted Lasso’ Friendship Goals
Some on-screen friendships feel so genuine that fans can’t help wondering whether they carry over off camera. On ‘Ted Lasso’, the bond between Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones has long been treated as the heart of the show, and the real-life connection between Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple seems every bit as strong.
With the Apple TV+ comedy back after a 3-year absence, that friendship is once again part of the conversation. Season 4 premiered on Aug. 5, 2026, putting the pair in the spotlight for a fresh round of press and fan love.
Now a photo of Waddingham and Temple sharing a joyful embrace with an Emmy statuette in the frame is making the rounds online. Temple, in a pale blue two-piece, wraps Waddingham in an exuberant hug with her mouth wide open in delight, while Waddingham, in a coral strapless gown, beams with the golden trophy in hand.
The image echoes one of the most memorable moments in the show’s awards run. In 2021, Waddingham won supporting actress in a comedy series at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, taking the first prize of the night for playing Rebecca. She beat out Temple, who was nominated in the same category for playing Keeley.
Waddingham used part of her acceptance speech to pay tribute to her co-star. She joked that she wished she could break off a piece of the statuette to give to Temple, and said there would be no Rebecca without Keeley. It was a rare Emmy moment in which the winner spent time celebrating her closest competitor.
Temple has returned the love. In an interview, she said she hoped Waddingham would take the award over her, a sentiment Waddingham reportedly shared in return.

Their closeness hasn’t faded between seasons. Temple has appeared in Waddingham’s 2023 Apple TV concert special ‘Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas’, and the two have continued to speak warmly about each other in interviews. Temple has also earned Emmy nominations for both ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Fargo’, adding to her own list of accolades.
Their chemistry has been a major selling point of the show’s return. In a recent interview with TV Movie, the two discussed female friendships and the pull of seeing Rebecca and Keeley back together, with Temple gushing about what she has learned from her co-star.
The new season follows Ted returning to Richmond to coach a women’s second-division team, an idea that comes from Keeley’s pitch to Rebecca. Waddingham has said she and Temple became unofficial mentors to the younger actors who joined the cast to play the new players.
Both stars have also said they weren’t sure they’d be asked back when the season was announced, with Waddingham admitting she wondered whether she was even in it. Once they returned, she described Rebecca as being in her most confident, clear-eyed moment, while Temple said Keeley’s journey this season is about learning patience.

Season 4 has been rolling out weekly, with episodes scheduled through early October. That means fans are only now reaching the end of a long-awaited reunion, and the arrival of a photo like this one feels especially timely.
Beyond ‘Ted Lasso’, both actors are busy. Waddingham stars opposite Octavia Spencer in the new series ‘Ride or Die’, while Temple has appeared in 2026 projects including ‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die’.
For now, though, fans seem happy simply to bask in the warmth of the moment. The photo is a reminder that the genuine affection between Rebecca and Keeley was never just acting.
