‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 Episode 9 & 10 Recap & Ending Explained: Constance and Ben Are Satan’s Children
Few seasons of ‘American Horror Story‘ have been built on this much fan service, and the latest back-to-back installments pay it off in a big way. The ‘American Horror Story’ ending, with its twin family bombshells and a witch showdown on the horizon, reshapes everything that came before. Here is a full recap of what happened and what it means.
This anthology season is the first batch of new episodes since 2024, the longest break since the show began in 2011. FX and Hulu are releasing the season as 13 half-hour episodes, with pairs arriving each week before an Oct. 29 finale timed for Halloween. The cast reads like a reunion, with Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Joey Pollari all returning.
The pair that aired Oct. 15, “The Devil Is in the Details” and “The Prodigal Son,” finally lifts the curtain on the mysterious Mr. Nas. He turns out to be Satan himself, and he has more family than anyone realized. Constance is his daughter, and so is Ben.
The first episode returns to Mr. Nas’ apartment, where Constance arrives with a list of demands for the Prince of Darkness. She insists on seeing his handsome form, then asks for no more nukes, a female president and jobs for her 2 children, even floating a role for Tate at Fox News. Nas is far less amused than she expects.
He pulls out a lengthy scroll of her sins, including the deaths of her maid Moira and her husband, abandoning Tate, locking Addie in the “bad girl closet,” smothering her son Beauregard and stealing Vivien’s baby. After a dreamlike dance, Constance proposes herself as his Mistress of the Damned for all eternity. Nas explains he cannot, for a darker reason: he is her father.
Elsewhere, Ben takes the strange “616” branding on his lower back to a tattoo parlor with Ashley. The investigation triggers forgotten memories of Satanic rituals from his youth and explains his lifelong fear of the number 13. In the second episode, a young Mr. Nas, played by Paul Anthony Kelly, tells Ben that he is his father too.
That makes Ben and Constance siblings. The reveal also clears up the apparent anagram in Nas’ full name, Taylor Dorium Nas, which rearranges into “I’m Your Lord Satan.” It is a gleefully on-brand twist for a show that has always loved a wink.

“The Prodigal Son” opens in 1939 at the Vatican, where Pope Pius XII receives a mysterious package. In New Orleans, the witches wait impatiently for Papa Legba and Marie Laveau to work their magic. After some bloody fingerprinting, Papa Legba connects the 1939 story to Nas’ long game.
Nas has roughly 13 years left to reach his required age. By murdering groups of 13 women, he can speed up his mortal aging and arrive ahead of schedule. The coven of 13 witches is his final sacrifice, and they are targeted out of revenge because one of them killed his Anti-Christ.
That revenge angle leads to a major reveal for Mallory. She confesses to the coven that she is the future Supreme and went back in time to run over and kill Michael Langdon, a nod to ‘Apocalypse.’ She had never mentioned that part of the timeline pivot, so the witches are only now learning why they are the Devil’s primary target.
Papa Legba concludes that the only way to stop Satan is to find his son. That son will rule the Earth once the Devil reaches 100 and returns to Hell. Nas has already chosen Ben to take the dark crown, promising him total dominion.

The final scene shows the witches preparing for battle. They are interrupted by a visit from none other than Ben, who arrives announcing that they have been looking for him. It sets up the confrontation between good and evil that the season has been building toward.
The ending raises a delicious question: will Ben embrace his inheritance or fight it? With Constance’s ambitions now tied to her father, and the coven’s lives hanging on the outcome, loyalties could shift quickly. The remaining episodes have plenty of room to deliver.
Will Ben embrace his destiny as Satan's chosen heir in American Horror Story?
