‘Onslaught’ Star Adria Arjona Turns Heads in Sculptural Black-and-White Rasario
Awards season doesn’t officially start with a trophy; it starts with a dress. Every fall, Hollywood’s biggest names test out their boldest fashion choices at the Academy Museum Gala, a night often dubbed the Met Gala of the West. The 2026 edition delivered plenty of statement gowns, but one understated silhouette stood out in a crowded field.
The sixth annual gala took place on Saturday, October 17, in Los Angeles, raising more than $14 million for the museum’s exhibitions, education programs and public screenings. Honorees included John Carpenter, Charlize Theron and Colman Domingo, while a host committee that included Teyana Taylor, Demi Moore and Kate Hudson helped draw a star-studded crowd. With the event arriving right after the fashion weeks, plenty of looks came straight off the runway.
Among the standouts was Adria Arjona, who wore a custom strapless black column gown by Rasario with a sculpted white neckline. She finished the look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a white shawl that fell from her arms, and slicked her hair back into a polished updo. The dress earned a spot on multiple best-dressed lists, including a ranking of 16 favorite red carpet looks.

The appeal of the gown comes down to contrast. A smooth black column skirt leaves the wavy white neckline as the dominant focal point, giving the dress a graphic, almost architectural quality. One fashion critic said the sculpted neckline won her over even more than the color combination, noting that the shawl gave it an Old Hollywood feel with a contemporary execution.
That restraint mattered in a field full of drama. Other stars wore feathers, polka-dot bubble tiers and sweeping trains, but Arjona’s look relied on a single sculptural curve. It’s the kind of simple idea that photographs beautifully on a carpet full of maximalism.

The jewelry wasn’t a random choice. Arjona is a Tiffany & Co. ambassador and starred in the house’s 2026 Valentine’s Day campaign, so wearing its pieces at a major event fits her ongoing relationship with the brand. The pendant-style necklace stood out against the white neckline, keeping the styling clean.
It’s also part of a consistent fashion run. At the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Onslaught’ on August 26, she wore a Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2026 black strapless column dress with an exposed contrasting corset detail, also paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. During the New York press run in early September, she rotated through an ivory Victoria Beckham dress and a fitted brown Ferragamo suede dress.

Fashion aside, Arjona has plenty to promote. She stars in ‘Onslaught’, the action thriller from director Adam Wingard, and also serves as an executive producer on the project. She joined ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ remake opposite Michael B. Jordan after Taylor Russell exited the cast, and the production has been shooting in London.
Fans also know her from ‘Andor’, where she played Bix Caleen, and from last year’s comedy ‘Splitsville’ alongside Dakota Johnson. Her earlier credits include ‘Hit Man’, ‘Blink Twice’, ‘Father of the Bride’ and ‘Morbius’. Together, they show an actress who has moved steadily from supporting parts into leading roles.

There’s also the matter of the DC Universe. Arjona is reported to be part of James Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’, the sequel to ‘Superman’, but DC Studios hasn’t officially confirmed which character she plays. Speculation that she could be Wonder Woman has been constant, partly fueled by her intense workout regimen.
Gunn has pushed back on that buzz, and nothing has been confirmed. For now, the role remains a mystery, which only adds to the attention on every public appearance. Each carpet moment doubles as a chance for fans to look for clues.
The gala is also a preview of what’s to come. With awards season on the horizon, looks like Arjona’s set the tone for the red carpets ahead. Sculptural details and bold contrasts seem poised to be this year’s recurring themes.
For an actress with a major franchise on the way and an action lead on screens now, the timing couldn’t be better. A well-chosen gown reminds audiences that she’s more than a rising star; she’s a fixture.
