New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser Sends Reed Richards to the Mound at Ebbets Field During the World Series
Marvel has been rationing ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ footage for months, which means every new clip gets dissected frame by frame. Fans have studied trailers, concept art and merchandise for clues, and the studio has kept finding new places to hide them. This time, it picked one of the biggest stages in American sports.
The preview aired during Game 1 of the 2026 World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers. MLB had teased an exclusive look earlier in the week, and a short clip of an Avengers logo glowing green over a packed stadium had fans guessing about what would follow.
The new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser opens in the Fantastic Four’s universe at a retro ballpark, where an announcer welcomes Reed Richards to the mound. Pedro Pascal’s Reed, wearing a Brooklyn Dodgers cap, uses his stretchy arm to throw the ceremonial first pitch, with the Thing standing nearby. The scene takes place at Ebbets Field and appears to be a brand-new moment from the film.

The clip is cut with reactions from real players. Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski, Phillies slugger Bryce Harper and Rays third baseman Junior Caminero all appear, joking about the ceremonial pitch. One of them quips that these first pitches are getting bigger and bigger.
Disney’s marketing chief called the World Series the right venue for the preview. In a statement shared by MLB.com, Martha Morrison said “there’s no bigger stage in baseball than the World Series” and that the studio was thrilled to share the piece with fans. The Fantastic Four’s official Instagram joined in, joking that the surprise was brought to fans by Frosty Treats in collaboration with the Future Foundation.
Beyond the ballpark, the teaser contains quick shots of other characters. Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers appears, along with Thor, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. There’s also a new shot of Sam’s Avengers team, a hint of the returning X-Men, including Magneto and Cyclops, and a look at the Wakandans.
The footage also shows the destruction Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is set to bring. Doom’s color is green, so the glowing logo over the stadium made it clear who was hanging over the ballpark. The Fantastic Four first appeared in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ and their retro-futuristic world is where the film begins.
One nugget for baseball fans is the Brooklyn Dodgers cap. It implies the Dodgers never left Brooklyn on Earth-828, a small worldbuilding touch that fits the alternate-history feel of the Fantastic Four’s universe. It’s the kind of detail that rewards viewers who pay attention.
Some of the in-scene banter plays with the larger story, too. One voice asks whether Reed will drop the hammer, and another answers that it would only happen if Thor were pitching. Another says you could trust Cap on the mound, and a reply asks which Cap they mean.
Reaction has been mixed. The preview was short, and some viewers who sat through innings of baseball hoping for a big reveal were disappointed by only a few seconds of new footage. One outlet noted there didn’t seem to be any big reveals, and another wrote that it wasn’t what they’d hoped for.
Others thought it was a smart marketing play. ComicBook.com called the choice of the World Series the perfect call after seeing the footage, and said a final trailer still feels inevitable. The new teaser is being treated as the official kickoff of the film’s last big marketing push.
The teaser landed on the same day as a Doctor Doom Easter egg that took over Google search with Marvel quizzes and a Doomsday countdown. Marvel has also rolled out character descriptions, concept art, merchandise and themed installations around the world. With about 2 months left before release, the studio is clearly shifting into high gear.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and arrives in theaters on December 18. It brings together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Thunderbolts as Doom threatens the multiverse, and it leads into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on December 17, 2027.
For now, fans have a new image of Reed Richards on the mound and plenty of speculation to chew on. Whether it was a satisfying appetizer or a missed opportunity depends on who you ask.
Did the 'Avengers: Doomsday' World Series teaser deliver enough, or are you waiting for a full trailer?
