Doctor Doom Gets a Stained-Glass Makeover in New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Promo
Marvel’s marketing for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has made one thing very clear: this is Doctor Doom’s movie. Instead of leading with a heroic lineup, the campaign has leaned on moody, villain-centered imagery that treats Victor von Doom like a monarch rather than a monster of the week. Each new piece of art seems designed to add another layer of dread.
Robert Downey Jr. plays the iconic villain, and the studio has been unusually consistent about the look. Doom appears in a hooded green cloak and a metal mask, often set against glowing green light. The film arrives in theaters on December 18, directed by the Russo brothers.
Now another round of promotional art has surfaced, and it takes the imagery in a new direction. The latest visuals show Doom rendered in a stained-glass style.

Three designs appear in the new set. On the left, Doom’s hooded face sits inside a tall, arched window frame with green panes and orange accents. In the center, a hexagonal medallion shows Doom in a compact, geometric composition, and on the right a full figure stands with arms crossed beneath a golden arch.
Each version uses the same palette, with deep greens, golds and silvers. The Avengers: Doomsday branding appears at the bottom of each piece, and a HEX Facility watermark runs across the image. The effect looks like a cathedral window dedicated to a tyrant.
The style is not new to the campaign. The first poster for the film, released in late 2025, featured the Avengers “A” logo set against green stained glass, engraved with runes that appear to nod to Doom’s Latverian magic. A later poster from Disney’s D23 Expo showed Doom hooded in his cloak with light shining through an ornate green window.
Other pieces have continued the theme. One poster placed Doom in a towering throne room, with three Latverian witches standing on the stairs beneath glowing green and gold windows. Another design, circulated earlier, rendered his mask as a stained-glass mosaic in greens, golds and oranges, with “Doom Is Supreme” across the top.
HEX Facility has been a source for many of the film’s promotional visuals. At least 25 posters have surfaced online, and some of them were tied to a listing for a 2027 calendar for the film that contains many of the visuals. It’s worth noting that these pieces are promotional artwork and may not reflect the final on-screen designs.
Some designs use comic-book cover aesthetics, digital line art, cel-shading and bold color panels. Others focus on teams, including one that brings together seven heroes from the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.
Doom’s dominance is evident in the taglines. Different pieces read “Doom Has No Rivals,” “Doom Supreme” and “Doom Does Not Beg.” The studio’s first-ever Doctor Doom poster arrived alongside the first trailer, declaring that December 18 is Doomsday.
That focus has also shaped merchandise. Funko figures reportedly label the character “Lord Doom” and show him in a green military-style uniform with gold detailing, though his iconic mask remains in place. Collectibles from Hot Toys and Iron Studios recreate the throne room.

Several visuals have teased Latveria itself. Promo art released on October 4 gave fans a first look at Doomstadt Tower, Doom’s Latverian headquarters, and a green and yellow mosaic across its front suggests it houses his throne room. The three masked Latverian witches have become one of the biggest mysteries of the campaign, since their identities have not been revealed.
The throne room imagery, with stained-glass windows and runic carvings, has become a signature. It presents Doom as a ruler who is completely comfortable with absolute control.
The new art may not reveal any plot details, but it reinforces the tone Marvel is aiming for. By putting Doom at the center of so many visuals, the studio is telling fans that the villain is the main event. It’s a bold approach for a film packed with heroes from three different worlds.
For collectors and fans, the stained-glass designs are also simply striking. They turn a menacing character into a piece of sacred, ominous art.
