The marketing machine behind ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has settled into a steady rhythm. Every few days, another batch of artwork, cutouts or merchandise surfaces, and fans pore over each one for hints about what is coming.

The latest round shifts attention away from Doctor Doom for a moment. It focuses on a corner of the story that has drawn intense curiosity since the fourth teaser trailer.

New promo art for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has surfaced showing Namor, Black Panther and M’Baku in cutout-style images. Namor stands with a golden trident in a blue-green scaled tunic, Black Panther leaps in a dark suit with gold detailing, and M’Baku completes the trio as the Wakandan king.

The three characters tie together some of the biggest unresolved threads in the Black Panther corner of the MCU. In ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Namor and his underwater kingdom of Talokan attacked Wakanda, and the film ended in an uneasy truce between the two nations.

Shuri took on the Black Panther mantle after the death of T’Challa. Variety’s reading of the fourth teaser suggests that M’Baku successfully challenged her for the throne at the end of that film, since a character greets him as King M’Baku of Wakanda.

That context makes the new art feel like a family reunion with a lot of baggage. Putting all 3 characters together in a promotional line-up underlines how central they are to the film.

The costumes mirror what fans saw in the fourth teaser. Namor appeared in a black, comic-accurate suit in that footage, alongside his cousin Namora, played by Mabel Cadena. The promo art version shows a different, more regal look in blue and green.

According to The Direct, M’Baku appears in an evolved version of his armor, with some potential upgrades inspired by Talokan. He also keeps his usual reinforced forearm guards and spikes.

Shuri’s Black Panther suit retains a sleek, dark design with gold accents. Official promo art from the Futures Festival at Pinewood also gave fans a closer look at these designs, along with about 28 character costumes in total.

The fourth teaser played before screenings of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and focused on the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four. Letitia Wright’s Shuri delivers heavy narration about having lost everyone who matters to her.

It also introduced a lighter moment, as Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm meets M’Baku and offers his address on Yancy Street. The teaser ended with text reading that the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four will return in the film.

Fans also noticed the comics connection. Namor made his Marvel Comics debut in ‘Fantastic Four’ #4, and T’Challa first appeared in ‘Fantastic Four’ #52, making this crossover a nod to the characters’ shared roots.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in US theaters on Dec 18, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom, leading a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston and Simu Liu.

Tenoch Huerta Mejía returns as Namor, Letitia Wright as Shuri and Winston Duke as M’Baku. The film also brings in the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, making it the most crowded Marvel crossover in years.

It is also the penultimate chapter of the Multiverse Saga, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ scheduled for Dec 17, 2027. Early ticket sales are reportedly running ahead of the pace set by ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in parts of Europe.

The biggest question is Namor’s allegiance. He is traditionally an antihero, and it is unclear whether he would side with Doom or join the heroes. The comics also give him a history with Sue Storm, which could create tension with her husband, Reed Richards.

Sue and Reed will share the screen with him, so any fallout will play out in front of the entire cast. The new art shows him ready for action, but it gives no hint of which side he is on.

Whatever happens, the Wakandans and Talokanil are being positioned as a major piece of the film. With a little more than a month to go, Marvel is clearly keen to remind audiences of that.

Which side do you think Namor will take in Avengers: Doomsday?
