Marvel’s marketing machine for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ keeps rolling, and the latest batch of images is a costume lover’s dream. A fresh set of promotional visuals gives some of the cleanest looks yet at the new suits that heroes and villains will wear in the Russo brothers’ crossover. For fans counting down to December, it works as a character-by-character lineup.

The film has been feeding fans in stages. Four teaser trailers have previewed its story, major returns and costumes for characters like Namor, Shuri and Thor, and the first full trailer arrived in July with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Earlier promo art and merchandise also pointed to a shift toward comic-accurate designs across the ensemble.

Now a new wave of cutout-style promotional art, covering more than a dozen characters, shows those designs in sharp, isolated detail. It includes Namor, M’Baku, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Captain America, Thor, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Beast and Black Panther.

Tenoch Huerta’s Namor appears with a long spear and a blue-and-green scaled outfit with gold accents. Winston Duke’s M’Baku is shown in layered tribal-style armor with a spiked mace. Earlier reporting described M’Baku’s look as an evolved version of his armor, with potential upgrades from Talokan and his usual reinforced forearm guards.

The pairing of Namor and M’Baku is itself a storyline hint. Both characters have been tied to Wakanda’s world, and the film also brings back Letitia Wright’s Shuri as Black Panther.

Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes appear in tactical looks, with Yelena holding her batons and Bucky showing his metal arm. Their costumes carry the feel of the New Avengers team introduced in the ‘Thunderbolts*’ post-credits scene, which showed updated suits and a more confident energy. That scene also set up a feud, since Captain America objects to the group’s new name.

Anthony Mackie’s Captain America stands in a classic red-white-and-blue suit with his shield and signature goggles. Earlier leaked toy images suggested longer red gloves and more white detailing around the shoulders and goggles compared with the suit from ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, is seen leaping with lightning crackling around him, and earlier art confirmed a shorter hairstyle reminiscent of his ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ design.

The mutant designs may be the biggest talking point. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X appears in a dark jacket with an X emblem, seated in a wheelchair. Ian McKellen’s Magneto wears a deep red suit with a flowing cape and helmet, and fans reacted strongly to his earlier look.

Cyclops, played by James Marsden, wears a costume heavily inspired by the character’s look in ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ and ‘X-Men ’97’. Marsden has said the actors are being seen in new costumes with new intentions and intensities. Kelsey Grammer’s Beast also gets a spotlight, though earlier promo art showed him without an upper-body costume.

Stewart’s presence carries extra weight now. The actor died on October 28 at age 86, and the film is described as his final appearance as Professor X. West End theaters planned to dim their lights for 2 minutes on November 3 in his honor.

The overall approach looks deliberate. Marvel is blending Fox-era mutants, Fantastic Four heroes and MCU veterans into a single visual language, and the comic-accurate approach should help them feel like part of the same world. The Fantastic Four, for example, wear their signature blue-and-white uniforms in earlier art.

All of these characters face off against Doctor Doom in a three-universe crossover. With the Russo brothers directing and a cast of more than 25 names, the costumes help each hero read clearly in a crowded frame.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hits theaters on December 18, the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three’. If the promo images are anything to go by, the film plans to make a visual statement.
