‘Fire Country’ and ‘Sheriff Country’ Collide Again in a Prison Break Crossover That Puts Edgewater on the Edge

Few TV universes have grown as quickly as the one built around the fictional Northern California town of Edgewater. What started as a drama about an inmate firefighter has expanded into a franchise with its own spinoff and even more on the way.

‘Sheriff Country’ follows Edgewater County Sheriff Mickey Fox, played by Morena Baccarin, who is also the aunt of firefighter Bode Donovan, played by Max Thieriot. That family link has made it easy for the two series to share characters, and it has set the stage for another big team-up.

CBS is bringing the two shows together again for a two-hour crossover on Friday, November 6. The event marks the second major crossover between the series, following a two-part story in April built around a bus of missing teens.

This time, the story starts with a dangerous prison break. The ‘Sheriff Country’ episode ‘No Way In’ airs at 8 p.m. ET and follows Mickey as the escape turns into a hostage crisis, forcing her to make a high-stakes decision with personal consequences.

The story continues on ‘Fire Country‘ with ‘No Way Out’ at 9 p.m. ET. As escaped convicts set off a manhunt, Bode and the Station 42 crew join forces with Mickey and her deputies to protect their loved ones and the community caught in the crossfire.

Viewers will need to watch the episodes in order, with ‘Sheriff Country’ first and ‘Fire Country’ second. Paramount+ Premium subscribers can watch live as the episodes air on CBS, while Essential subscribers can stream both on demand starting Saturday, November 7.

On the ‘Sheriff Country’ side, Thieriot, Kevin Alejandro and Jules Latimer guest star as Bode, Manny and Eve. In the ‘Fire Country’ hour, Baccarin, Matt Lauria, Michele Weaver, Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan make the trip as Mickey, Deputy Nathan Boone, Deputy Campbell, Skye and Deputy Iglesias.

Baccarin has said the shoot was a good time for everyone involved. She told TV Insider that “It’s a very fun crossover, actually.” She added that she got to pair up quite a bit with Alejandro, while Boone and Bode remain a buddy-cop duo.

Sheriff Country showrunner Matt Lopez has said that the lineup is not identical to the April event. Characters who sat out the previous crossover are involved this time, and viewers can look for Jake and Cassidy Campbell from ‘Fire Country’.

That gives the story a wider canvas, and it fits Lopez’s stated goal of a seamless universe in which characters from either show could walk into a scene at any time. The event also arrives earlier in the season than the previous one did.

The crossover has another storyline that fans are watching closely. At a press event, Thieriot and Baccarin teased that a cross-show romance is coming this season, though they did not say which characters would be involved.

The November 6 event could reveal who it is, although nothing has been confirmed. Lopez has also hinted that the characters in question share a long personal history.

The crossover also comes as the franchise explores new corners of Edgewater. A medical spinoff called ‘Edge Med’ is in development, and Noah Reid is set to guest star on ‘Sheriff Country’ as a doctor at the hospital.

‘Sheriff Country’ premiered on October 17, 2025, and both shows were renewed for new seasons on CBS’s Friday night schedule. With the earlier crossover already behind it, the franchise is now returning to a formula it has used before.

For fans, the appeal is simple. The two shows offer different flavors, with firefighters battling nature on one side and a sheriff dealing with darker crime on the other, and the crossover lets them collide in a single story.

With a prison break, a hostage crisis and a manhunt all in play, the stakes look higher than ever. And if the teased romance pays off, Edgewater may never be the same.
