‘Dune: Part Three‘ is entering the final stretch of its marketing campaign, and Warner Bros. is clearly saving some of its most striking imagery for the home stretch. With only weeks to go before Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy-closing chapter reaches theaters, the studio has kept the promotional material coming. The latest piece lands just as anticipation for the film keeps climbing.

The movie adapts Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’, and Villeneuve has confirmed he intends to wrap up the story here rather than push on to ‘Children of Dune’. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return as Paul Atreides and Chani. They are joined by Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem and Rebecca Ferguson, with Robert Pattinson arriving as the new villain Scytale.

A new piece of promotional art for ‘Dune: Part Three’ has now surfaced, reminding audiences that the film opens in theaters on December 18. It shows 5 figures arranged around a central character with a shaved head, dressed in plain robes and standing before a glowing circular halo. Two of the surrounding figures hold blades, and the title sits at the bottom against rolling desert dunes.

The warm, sandy palette and the halo effect give the poster an almost devotional feel. That suits a story about a leader whose followers have come to treat him as a messiah. It is a far more brooding image than the franchise’s earlier marketing, and it fits the darker territory the final chapter is expected to explore.

‘Dune Messiah’ picks up after Paul’s rise, and the film leans on that tension. According to W Magazine’s rundown, Paul and Chani are at odds, with him having betrayed her on his quest for power. Pattinson’s character reportedly plots with Chani against Paul, setting up a conflict inside the circle closest to him.

Villeneuve has framed the material as a warning. One outlet’s breakdown noted that he makes the author’s intent unmistakably clear: the story cautions against blind worship of a charismatic leader. Forces gather against Paul as well, including the Bene Tleilax, an arcane sect of genetic manipulators.

Momoa returns as Hayt, a version of Duncan Idaho, even though the character died in the first film. His son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and ‘Silo’ actor Ida Brooke join the franchise as Paul and Chani’s twin children, Leto II and Ghanima. Taylor-Joy also steps into a bigger role as Alia, after her brief appearance in ‘Dune: Part Two’.

The trilogy has been a clear commercial success. The first ‘Dune’ film earned $402 million worldwide, and ‘Dune: Part Two’ climbed to $714 million. Together the earlier two films brought in roughly $1.1 billion, according to a Hollywood Reporter figure relayed by ANI.

Hans Zimmer returns to compose the score, while production began in Budapest in July 2025. That continuity across the creative team helps explain why the new art feels like a natural extension of what came before. Villeneuve has built a recognizable visual language, and the studio keeps leaning on it.

No conversation about the film is complete without the rivalry attached to it. ‘Dune: Part Three’ opens on the same day as Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, a head-to-head clash fans have nicknamed ‘Dunesday’. The Villeneuve film staked out the December 18 date first, and neither studio has budged.

The two films even share a star, as Pugh plays Princess Irulan in one and Yelena Belova in the other. Cosmic Book reports that IMAX has locked ‘Dune: Part Three’ into an exclusive 3-week run through the holiday period, which would leave ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ off those screens. Another outlet has speculated that Marvel could follow the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ playbook and move to IMAX later.

The marketing push has been steady. The studio revealed a batch of character posters ahead of a final trailer in late October, and tickets have been rolling out in markets around the world. Each new image adds to a campaign that wants to make ‘Dune: Part Three’ feel like the event of the season.

With the release date this close, expect even more art, clips and premium-format announcements.
