Disney Branded Television has confirmed that the popular kids’ show “Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends” will get a fifth season. The series, a joint project between Disney Jr. and Marvel, focuses on young superheroes Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Miles Morales.

Together, they team up with other Marvel heroes to stop villains and show kids the value of working together. Aimed at preschoolers and their families, the show teaches lessons about friendship, helping others, and solving problems.

The announcement comes as the show continues to grow in popularity. In the last few months of 2024, it became the second-most-watched streaming series for kids aged 2-5, trailing just behind “Bluey.”

On Disney+ and Disney Jr., viewers have watched over one billion hours of the series. Online, it has racked up two billion views on YouTube through Disney Jr. and Marvel HQ channels. The show first aired in August 2021 and has since become a big hit, even ranking among the top five preschool toy brands worldwide.

Season 3 is airing now on Disney Jr., with some episodes already on Disney+. Season 4, set to start this summer, will bring a fresh twist with the team gaining water-based powers and new pirate outfits for their adventures. Fans can also catch all of Seasons 1 and 2 on Disney+. The show’s music, including its catchy theme song, comes from Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, who writes and performs for the series.

Leaders from Disney and Marvel are excited about the renewal. Ayo Davis, head of Disney Branded Television, said the show is a perfect mix of Disney Jr.’s storytelling and Marvel’s superhero flair, making it a great way to introduce young kids to these characters: “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends is what happens when two storytelling powerhouses — Marvel and Disney Jr. — come together to introduce the next generation to the world of Super Heroes.”

Ayo also added: “We love this show, and it’s been incredible to see how much kids do too. Team Spidey’s adventures aren’t slowing down anytime soon, and we can’t wait to bring even more stories, characters and action-packed fun for years to come.”

Brad Winderbaum, who oversees Marvel’s TV and animation, added that Spider-Man’s lasting appeal keeps the series fun and opens the door to the larger Marvel world for new fans: “Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, beloved by fans of all ages for over 60 years. These characters can speak to audiences of all ages, and Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends is a fun, vibrant entry point for kids to the wider Marvel Universe. There’s plenty more adventures ahead for Spidey, Spin, and Ghost-Spider, and we’re excited to partner with Disney Branded Television on a fifth season.”

The team behind the show includes experienced producers like Harrison Wilcox, Bart Jennett, and Chris Moreno, with Becca Topol shaping the stories and Steve Grover guiding production.

Beyond TV, “Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends” has expanded into books, music, and live events. Kids can read a beginner comic from Marvel Press, listen to soundtracks from Walt Disney Records, or see the characters in a special part of the Disney Jr. Live on Tour show. With Season 5 on the way, more adventures are coming for the young heroes and their fans.

This renewal doesn’t come as a surprise. The show’s success shows how much kids love these characters and their simple, positive messages. It’s a fun way to teach teamwork and kindness while keeping the action exciting.

Pairing Marvel’s heroes with Disney Jr.’s style clearly works, and the new water-themed story in Season 4 sounds like a fresh idea to keep things interesting. What do you think about the show’s popularity and its lessons for kids? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
