A brand-new version of the Star Wars galaxy map has just dropped on the official Star Wars website, and it’s packed with updates from the latest stories in the franchise. This map is a refreshed take on the one that was first created in 2009 for Star Wars: The Essential Atlas, and now it includes locations from Andor, The Bad Batch, the Thrawn novels, and more recent additions to the Star Wars universe.

Fans can now explore planets like Narkina, Pabu, and worlds from the Chiss Ascendancy. It’s not just a map for looking at pretty stars; there’s also a full list of every charted star system.

The list shows where each system is located on the grid, and what sector and region it belongs to. Whether you’re a writer, a roleplayer, or just a curious fan, this is a huge resource to dig into.

Jason Fry, one of the writers behind the updated version, shared more about the map in a post on Substack.

He worked on the update with DK designer Christopher Ibbit and others. Fry said that the team plans to keep updating the map as new Star Wars stories are told. There might even be new versions that zoom in on specific regions or sectors to make it easier to explore.

You can zoom all the way in on the interactive map on the official site, but even just looking at it as a whole gives a sense of how huge the Star Wars galaxy really is.

The size of it is kind of overwhelming in the best way. It makes you realize how far apart places like Tatooine and Coruscant really are. That one line from Luke Skywalker in A New Hope, about feeling like he was stuck in the middle of nowhere, hits even harder when you see just how far Tatooine is from the center of everything.

“Kid, I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other — I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff…” Han Solo once said. And looking at this map, that line suddenly feels a lot more literal.

What’s also cool is how this updated map makes Star Wars feel even more connected. Like how Nemik’s manifesto in Andor spread all across the galaxy, from a small rebel cell to the core of the Empire on Coruscant.

Or how the Clone Wars, the Rebellion, and the Resistance all grew across this same space. You start to see the full picture of how these movements started small and reached every corner of the galaxy. And of course, the Force ties it all together.

Honestly, it’s pretty amazing how a simple map can make you feel all of that. It shows how big the Star Wars sandbox really is, and how much room is left to explore. What do you think of the new map? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
