Watch One of 2024’s Biggest Hits on Netflix Before It’s Gone in Just 72 Hours
If you’re looking for one of the best movies of 2024, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is streaming on Netflix right now, but not for long. This popular action film will leave the platform on July 16, which means Netflix viewers only have about 72 hours left to watch it before it disappears. After that, you’ll have to either rent it or subscribe to HBO Max, where Furiosa will become a streaming exclusive. There’s no news yet about if or when it might come back to Netflix.
Furiosa is a spin-off and prequel to the 2015 hit Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s the fifth film in the Mad Max series, but this time, Max Rockatansky isn’t the main character. Instead, the story focuses on Furiosa, a strong secondary character, showing her origin and how she became who she is.
The movie didn’t perform as well as Fury Road at the box office. While Fury Road earned $380.5 million on a budget of about half of what Furiosa cost, Furiosa made $174.3 million worldwide. That’s still a decent number, but given its $168 million budget, it didn’t make enough money to be a big hit.
When it comes to awards and reviews, Fury Road was a huge success, winning many prizes and scoring 97 and 86 on Rotten Tomatoes. Furiosa didn’t match that level of awards attention, but critics still liked it, giving it strong Rotten Tomatoes scores of 90 and 88.
Even though Furiosa didn’t have the same box office or awards success as its predecessor, it’s still one of 2024’s standout films. It may not be better than Fury Road, but it’s better than most other movies that came out this year.
If you want to watch Furiosa on Netflix before it leaves, expect a runtime of about two and a half hours. The movie has an R rating for “sequences of strong violence and grisly images.”
