Margot Robbie Becomes Hollywood’s New Giant Woman in Tim Burton’s Next Movie
Margot Robbie is getting ready for a much bigger role, literally. According to The InSneider, she will star in Tim Burton’s upcoming movie Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman. She’s not just acting in the film either; she’s also producing it through her company, LuckyChap. Warner Bros. is backing the project.
Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman isn’t a new idea. The original movie came out back in 1958. It was a low-budget sci-fi film that quickly became a cult favorite. The story followed Nancy Archer, a rich woman who returns home after a strange encounter with a UFO. Soon after, she grows to an enormous size and uses her new power to take revenge on her cheating husband and others who betrayed her.
The film starred Allison Hayes as Nancy and became known for its campy style, simple special effects, and over-the-top storyline. Despite its flaws, the movie earned a place in pop culture history. A TV remake starring Daryl Hannah came out in 1993, but it didn’t become as popular as the original.
Now, Tim Burton wants to give this old story a modern twist. Known for his love of strange and unusual stories, Burton seems like a perfect choice to take on this project. He has worked on movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and more recently Dumbo and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He also directed the Netflix hit Wednesday.
Back in February 2024, news first broke that Burton was attached to direct the remake. At that time, Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn was working on the script. However, The InSneider reports that Flynn won’t be returning to finish the script due to other work. Warner Bros. is now searching for a new writer to take over and continue where Flynn left off. Her version will still serve as the starting point.
Adding Margot Robbie to the project makes sense for Warner Bros. After the huge success of Barbie, both as an actress and producer, Robbie has become a top name in Hollywood. Her company LuckyChap also worked on Barbie, so Warner Bros. clearly wants to keep that partnership going.
The InSneider’s sources say Robbie will play the lead role of the giant woman, taking over from Allison Hayes’ original character. The story is expected to stick to its classic roots: a woman who grows after an alien encounter and becomes a powerful, towering figure.
Although Tim Burton recently mentioned he was working on an animated film, this live-action project is moving forward as well. The studio hopes that if the new script works out, Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman could become one of Burton’s most exciting movies in years.
So, after months of silence, the project is very much alive. Robbie is on board, Warner Bros. is committed, and Burton is ready to bring this giant story back to life.
