The world of demigods is coming back to our screens soon, and fans have a lot to be excited about. Disney+ just released a brand new poster and trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, and it looks like things are getting even more intense. The new season will officially premiere on December 10, 2025.

The show first launched on December 19, 2023, with Season 1 adapting The Lightning Thief. It quickly became a hit with viewers and critics, thanks to its strong cast, solid storytelling, and how closely it followed the original book.

The series earned sixteen nominations at the 3rd Children’s and Family Emmy Awards and took home eight trophies, including Outstanding Young Teen Series, as well as awards for writing and directing.

Season 2 will follow the events of The Sea of Monsters, and according to Disney, it’s going to dig even deeper into the mythology and action.

Walker Scobell returns as Percy Jackson, along with Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. They’re now joined by several new faces.

Daniel Diemer will play Tyson, Percy’s Cyclops half-brother. Tamara Smart joins as Thalia Grace, and Courtney B. Vance steps in as Zeus, replacing the late Lance Reddick.

Also announced were Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho, who will play the chaotic Gray Sisters. Timothy Simons takes on the role of Tantalus, and Andra Day has been revealed as the goddess Athena. Other guest stars include Rosemarie DeWitt, Aleks Paunovic, Beatrice Kitsos, and Kevin Chacon.

Filming for the second season took place in Vancouver, starting in August 2024 and wrapping up at the end of January 2025. A few months later, Disney confirmed that a third season is already on the way. Season 3 will cover The Titan’s Curse and is set to begin production in July 2025, also in Vancouver.

The show’s momentum isn’t slowing down. Casting for Season 3 began earlier this year, and fans got a surprise at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 when it was revealed that Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie will be playing Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades.

Behind the scenes, Albert Kim joined the team as an executive producer starting with Season 2. According to interviews, the writers have been working on scripts for both Season 2 and Season 3 well in advance, ensuring a clear and connected story. One planned storyline will explore Chiron’s disability more deeply, something that wasn’t touched on much before.

Fans of the books have praised the show for being faithful to the source. Critics especially highlighted the performances by Scobell and Jeffries, as well as the worldbuilding that brings Rick Riordan’s mythology to life. And now, with a fresh trailer and poster out, the hype is building once again.

Season 2 is set to take the adventure to sea, with monsters, gods, and even more danger. The wait is almost over. December 10 can’t come soon enough.
