New ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Trailer Reveals Black Panther’s Epic Ancient Story in Animated Series
The first trailer for the new animated series “Eyes of Wakanda” is out, and fans can catch it on Disney+ starting August 1. This limited series has four episodes and is executive produced by Ryan Coogler, the director behind the popular “Black Panther” movies.
The story takes place in Wakanda, the same fictional home of Black Panther that Coogler’s Marvel films have explored in depth. The series follows the fearless Wakandan warriors known as the Hatut Zaraze as they travel the world on dangerous missions.
Their goal is to recover powerful Vibranium artifacts that have fallen into the hands of Wakanda’s enemies. As the series unfolds, viewers get to see these heroes’ thrilling adventures and learn more about Wakanda’s rich history.
The voice cast for the show features some well-known names like Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Lynn Whitfield, and Anika Noni Rose, among others.
Fans last saw Wakanda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” from 2022, which was the follow-up to Marvel’s 2018 hit. That movie introduced the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and brought back familiar faces such as Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira. Wakanda’s characters also popped up in other Marvel projects, like Ayo from the Dora Milaje appearing in the Disney+ show “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” Actress Florence Kasumba plays Ayo, who was first seen in “Captain America: Civil War.”
This animated series marks the beginning of a multi-year deal between Ryan Coogler’s Proximity production company and Disney. There are more TV projects planned within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of this collaboration.
Todd Harris is the director and executive producer of “Eyes of Wakanda.” He started as a storyboard artist for both “Black Panther” films and later worked as an illustrator on the movie “Sinners” before taking on the director role for this series. Other executive producers include Ryan Coogler himself, along with Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt.
“This is their story,” as the series describes the brave Wakandan warriors known as the Hatut Zaraze, setting the stage for exciting adventures ahead.
