A New Clip Drops for ‘Eyes of Wakanda’, Marvel’s Animated Adventure Coming to Disney+
Marvel fans got a fresh look at Eyes of Wakanda, the new animated series set to premiere on Disney+ August 1, 2025. The show is an anthology miniseries created by Todd Harris, and it dives into the secret missions of the Hatut Zaraze, Wakandan warriors who travel through history to recover powerful vibranium artifacts. This series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be the first show in Phase Six of the MCU.
Eyes of Wakanda is produced by Marvel Studios Animation along with Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media, keeping close ties with the movies and live-action series of the franchise. Todd Harris, who serves as both showrunner and director, pitched the idea years ago while working on storyboards for Avengers: Infinity War.
He wanted to create something that combined Marvel’s interconnected stories with the rich history of Wakanda and its people. Harris described the series as a “giant spy-espionage” tale that spans across different time periods.
The animation style stands out with its hand-painted look, inspired by African-American artists like Ernie Barnes and illustrator Dean Cornwell. The team at Axis Animation brings this unique style to life, with influences from art across Africa and beyond. Harris explained that animation was the perfect choice since it could easily show diverse locations and time periods, from ancient Egypt to the moon, without huge costs.
The show features a strong voice cast, including Winnie Harlow as Noni, a former Dora Milaje member, and Cress Williams as the Lion, a former general turned pirate with a plan to rule his own kingdom. Anika Noni Rose also plays a crucial role, and Jona Xiao voices a mysterious Iron Fist warrior. The series will have four episodes, all dropping at once on Disney+.
Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media first announced a deal with Disney back in 2021 to develop Wakanda-related stories, and Eyes of Wakanda was officially revealed in late 2023. The series aims to deepen the lore of Wakanda, showing new parts of its culture and history, while staying true to the MCU’s main timeline. Harris said, “The Hatut Zaraze are Wakanda’s CIA, and their loyalty is tested on every mission.”
With its fresh animation style, deep ties to Wakandan history, and strong connection to the MCU, Eyes of Wakanda promises to be a thrilling new chapter. The series will hit Disney+ on August 1, 2025, and all four episodes will be available to watch right away.
