Toni Collette co-stars as Evelyn Wade, a powerful figure in the community.
Mae Martin is not only the star but also the creator and showrunner of the series, working alongside Ryan Scott. Speaking about the project, Martin said it’s a story they have “been dying to tell for years.” Netflix announced the show in April 2023 under its original title, Tall Pines, before it was later renamed Wayward.
The cast also includes Sarah Gadon, Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Brandon Jay McLaren, Tattiawna Jones, Isolde Ardies, Joshua Close, Patrick J. Adams, Patrick Gallagher, Gage Munroe, and Byron Mann. Brandon Jay McLaren joined the project in May 2024, followed by Toni Collette and other main cast members in June 2024.
Production began in Ontario, Canada during the summer of 2024. The series is produced by Objective Fiction and Sphere Media, with Martin, Scott, Ben Farrell, Hannah Mackay, Jennifer Kawaja, and Bruno Dubé serving as executive producers.
The newly released trailer teases a mix of mystery, tension, and unsettling small-town secrets, giving viewers a glimpse into the eerie atmosphere that will unfold when Wayward premieres on Netflix this September.
