Jenna Ortega is bringing Wednesday Addams back to Netflix, and she’s not coming alone. Season 2 of Wednesday is set to arrive in two parts, Part 1 on August 6 and Part 2 on September 3. This time, Nevermore Academy will be filled with new enemies, strange mysteries, and more family drama than Wednesday would ever want.

While promoting the upcoming season, Jenna Ortega and director Tim Burton have been making stops around the world. Netflix just dropped a striking photo of the two of them in Paris with the playful caption: Jenna and Tim in Paris. (Look out, Emily).

Before their Paris visit, the cast had already gathered in London for the big Season 2 world premiere.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar teased what’s ahead for the gloomy heroine. “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” they said.

Familiar faces are back. Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley Addams all have bigger roles this season. There will also be brand-new characters played by well-known actors.

Creator Miles Millar warned that things at Nevermore won’t go as Wednesday expects. “Nothing is what it seems in Season 2. Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.”

This season also mixes family and school life, something Wednesday definitely doesn’t enjoy. Tim Burton, who directs and produces the show, explained it this way: “This year, we bring the family to Nevermore. Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn’t it?”

The most unexpected twist for Wednesday? Her younger brother Pugsley is now a student at Nevermore. Played by Isaac Ordonez, Pugsley has a special power called electrokinesis, which he struggles to control. Burton said, “Poor Pugsley, he’s kind of an outcast among outcasts this season … Isaac did a really beautiful job of capturing the pathos of Pugsley.”

Ordonez shared that Pugsley just wants to belong. “He really wants to fit in, and he really wants a friend, but it’s not looking very good,” he said.

Fans should get ready for a darker, more twisted return to Nevermore Academy. Wednesday Addams is back, and nothing will go as planned when the new season begins August 6 on Netflix.
