‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Shines Bright with Amazing Rotten Tomatoes Score

Eyes of Wakanda is a new animated miniseries on Disney+ that explores the world of Wakanda from Marvel Comics. Created by Todd Harris, the show is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the 15th TV series from Marvel Studios.

It follows the Hatut Zaraze, secret Wakandan warriors who take on dangerous missions throughout history. Harris is both the showrunner and director of the series.

The show features a large cast, including Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, and Anika Noni Rose, among others. The series was developed after Disney and Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media signed a deal in 2021.

By March 2023, Disney confirmed the series was in the works, and it was officially announced as Eyes of Wakanda in December of that year. Unlike other Marvel animated shows, this one is closely connected to the main MCU timeline and films. The animation style is unique, with hand-painted visuals inspired by African-American artists like Ernie Barnes and illustrator Dean Cornwell, done by Axis Animation.

Eyes of Wakanda premiered on August 1, 2025, with all four episodes released at once. It also marks the start of Phase Six of the MCU. The show has been well received so far, with a solid 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on nine reviews.

Critics generally agree that the animation and action scenes stand out. The series looks beautiful and has a strong style that captures the feel of Wakanda well. Many found it to be a good way to stay connected to the world of Black Panther while waiting for Black Panther 3. However, some felt the stories were a bit thin and often followed similar themes in each episode. The short length of the series also left some storytelling feeling rushed or not fully developed.

The stories themselves are fairly thin, and hit similar thematic beats a lot from one episode to the next, but the action elevates the whole thing.
