Last year, Prime Video announced a new prequel series called Vought Rising, set in the world of The Boys. The show brings back Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash to play Soldier Boy and Stormfront, the characters they made famous.

This series takes place in the 1950s and will explore how Vought, the powerful company behind the superheroes, first came to be. It will also follow Soldier Boy’s early adventures and reveal the dark plans of Stormfront, who was known back then as Clara Vought.

Executive producers Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke expressed their excitement about the show. They said, “We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Aya Cash joined The Boys in its second season as Stormfront. Her character was the first successful subject of Compound V, giving her plasma powers. She also had a dark history as a former Nazi, which caused a lot of tension on the show.

Stormfront’s story ended in a dramatic way in Season 3 when she committed suicide. Now, this new series will give fans a chance to see what she and Soldier Boy were up to back in the 1950s.

Paul Grellong will run the show as showrunner and executive producer, working alongside Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and others. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, along with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Jensen Ackles first appeared as Soldier Boy, Vought’s original superhero and a war hero who worked with the CIA during the Cold War. After causing trouble in Season 3, his character was put back on ice but was shown to be in Vought’s control again in the Season 4 finale. The timing of this prequel fits right in with that storyline.

Besides Ackles and Cash, Vought Rising has added four new cast members: Jorden Myrie, Nicoló Pasetti, Brian J. Smith, and Ricky Staffieri. Jorden Myrie has been seen in shows like Sherwood and Bridgerton.

Nicoló Pasetti’s work includes The German and The Queen’s Gambit. Ricky Staffieri is known for The Bear and appearances on This Is Us and Better Call Saul. Brian J. Smith has starred in Stargate Universe, Sense8, and The Matrix Resurrections.
